No sign of James O’Reilly. Spotted Cooper Flanders, Jordie Vijoen and Siale Lauaki.

@Canes4life Yeah, I think the ginga I saw was James Blackwell, not O'Reilly. Glad Coops is there.

The Canes are good at showing photos from trainings compared to the other teams.

Shame about O'Reilly. Team needs a good 4th Hooker. Good to see Sheck there

Isn't your coach, the Messiah of the Fern, the soon to be coach of England 😉 , in a hoodie in every second photo?

Much as I hate the Hurricanes, spit, I'm on team Hoodie if the alternative team is the Hammettuer.

Also Inoke Afeaki is Canes #1, quite handy having an A as the first letter of your surname.

I saw him handing out fliers recently. I think he’s running ( or ran ) for council ? Still looks fighting fit !

Also, hoodies are awesome. I have loads of them.

@Canes4life The article doesn't mention the Hurricanes, but it's reasonable to assume that this is where they're moving to. Interesting combination with high tech industries. The location will make it a bit harder for fans to go there and watch the guys train.

Fans from Wellington City that is. It's almost an hour closer to the tens of thousands of fans from Hawkes.

Jordi has been an academy member; the talented half back has recently returned from a successful tour in South Africa with NZ U19s and is currently on a National Development Contract (only 20 given in the country) with The Hurricanes – what amazing achievements!

Looks like Jordi could be the next cab off the rank. This is off a Turbos post.

Posted by the Hawke's Bay RU:

Congratulations to our academy member Cooper Flanders on his NDC (National Development Contract - only 20 given in the country) with the Hurricanes! Coop joins Harry Godfrey and Hunter Morrison as Hawkes Bay players on NDC’s

All the best Coop, Harry and Hunter!

                        Cooper Flanders - loosie
Harry Godfrey - first five eighth/fullback
                        Hunter Morrison - lock

All three were in the NZ U19s. Morrison, like Godfrey, is a Whanganui Collegiate old boy. He's moved from Manawatū to Hawke's Bay.

I find it quite interesting that someone like Raymond Tuputupu has all of sudden vanished after performing strongly for the Hurricanes under 20s and NZ Under 20s this year, aswell as being rushed into the Hurricanes main side for one of their games earlier this season.

Does anyone know if he is injured, because he didn't appear for the Turbos either? I thought he would be next in line infront of both Leif Keil-Schwencke and Josh Southall for a Hurricanes dev spot, as they've only both played limited minutes.

@Canes4life Keil-Schwenke played in 6 games for Manawatū, mostly off the bench as Maile was usually their starting hooker.

No, idea what happened to Raymond Tuputupu since he played for the NZU20s in July. I expected him in the Turbos squad, too, ahead of LK-S. In the media release of the NZ U19 team naming it said that he was unavailable. All the others on that unavailable list were playing NPC or 7s. He wasn't. :man_shrugging_medium_skin_tone:

That's very interesting. Without speculating too much maybe he picked up a serious injury.

Hopefully we see him back on the park soon.

Anyone know much about Solomone Naiduki? I see he was in the P Eels setup over on Aus?

                                        Looks like an athlete.

                                        From his Rakaviti profile:

                                        Height: 189cm

                                        From: Tailevu, Fiji

Former RKS Under 18’s Rep Solomone Naiduki is known for being a powerhouse centre with excellent finishing abilities.

He was reportedly spotted by Raiders scouts on a tour to Australia with the Junior Bati but was ultimately signed by the Eels.

In his time with RKS he was touted as one of the best finishers in recent years.

This is from the Roar site:

Naiduki is the latest Fiji-born Parramatta winger. Naiduki was first scouted in 2018 by the Raiders when representing the Junior Bati as a centre, before a late three-year offer from the Eels secured his services.

Naiduki fits the prototype of the typical Fijian winger: athletic, quick, strong in contact and a good finisher.

Naiduki scored three tries in his six NSW Cup appearances last season and contributes handily when coming out of his own end, averaging 152 metres per game.

With Sivo injured to start the season, Naiduki looked to be likely to start on the wing in Round 1 until the recent signing of Bailey Simonsson.

He likely needs an injury to one of the starting wingers before a debut, and even then, he will still be competing with two-gamer Sean Russell for a spot.

Naiduki is no guarantee to play first grade this year but will not let anyone down if selected.ng to google, in 2021, he was a development player with the Eels; in 2022, he was a full squad member, but never cracked the senior playing side.

And this is from another article:

                                        Parramatta Eels - Solomone Naiduki

Another winger out of Fiji, Naiduki will be looking to emulate the success of Semi Radradra and Maika Sivo at Parramatta in the coming years.

Naiduki scored three tries in six games of NSW Cup last season and is an impressive athlete. He has signed on with the Eels top 30 squad on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old is built similarly to Sivo and has already drawn comparisons to his fellow Fijian star, and the rookie will also be looking to make an impact and earn a spot in the World Cup squad next year.

Before the club signed Bailey Simonsson recently, Naiduki was probably the front-runner to replace the injured Sivo at the start of next season, and while he might have to wait for his opportunity now, it appears it's not too far away.
