Depends who Virender thinks "they" are.

I'm assuming he's feeling sensitive about English media reaction to the 2 day test involving England in Ahmedabad and therefore it is pure hypocrisy if a test in Brisbane (jnvolving different players and media and officials ) also lasts 2 days, probably because they're majority white people? Makes sense to me ....

Personally, I like them both. As I said, a 2-day test pitch is a misjudged 3 day test pitch. And 3 day cricket rocks.

@Rapido I doubt it’s that. There are always shrieks from Aussie commentators, ex players and even current players when they tour India. “Dust bowls” “more cracks than a construction site” etc. Probably happened more when Virender was still playing because India had such dominant spin bowlers in those conditions too.

I agree with @Rapido having a pitch that favours the bowlers is great fun to watch in the test arena. Makes a 50 or 100 from the batsmen so much more meaningful as well, seeing 4 blokes get tons in one innings is a real bore.

Without being able to see inside his head. I don't think so. This is recent noise from the Kohli era. In particular from the England series last year.

The era when Virender was still playing were roads.

Putting on my waders, and stepping into the shitstream and reading the twitter thread Virender has started. It would appear that Michael Vaughan is probably the "they".

Yeah, nah. English media were right to slam them. I've not seen any commentary from the English media on the SA / Aus game, let alone any that is written in a positive light. So can't be that.

I'm guessing it's more that India cricket takes offence with anybody who doesn't bow down to their awesomeness & dares to criticise them. And Australians don't hold back in this light! Would have been criticism of the pitch (and probably, the poms) & now talking about how this was a special game or something.

Lets not bring skins colour into this Meg ...

Sort of agree. Love a 3 day match. 2 day is a bit much.

Yeah, had a look. Indeed, it seems Vaughan criticised the Indian pitch. He also criticised the Gabba pitch, so looks like there is some learning of what the word hypocrisy means!

Seems the thin skin on India cricket fans comes from their idols ...

love the chat on the previous pages "pitch was fine it's just shit batting aye. T20 has fucked them"

Since the game the batsmen have spoken and it sounds like a fucking minefield. Absolutely no chance guys are getting in line when they have no idea if it's going to keep low, or zing up, depending on where it lands. It also means you are more likely to just try and score a few before you get the one with your name on it.

They just got the moisture wrong, which is pretty bad really (even the curator admits it was a shit pitch).

Still, i thought it was a great deck. fuck protected modern batsmen. Fill your boots seamers.

3 day test cricket is, for me, pretty much sport at it's absolute apex. Batting bores me.

                    A 2 DAY TEST IS JUST A SLIGHTLY MIS-JUDGED PERFECT 3 DAY TEST .....

If a gentleman can't waste five days doing nothing other than drinking and watching sport...

I just like a contest where the batsmen have to protect their wicket, grind it out to make runs and then the process starts again with a new ball. Where timing of a declaration means the difference between winning and losing as the pitch deteriorates.

Which is why I hate T20.

I could come up with a better pitch in the backyard. Fancy looking at that a couple of days out and not thinking "fuck, that's a bit green hey?"

@Duluth Warner gets his 100th Cap and then probably jettisoned unless he does something spectacular and/or Australia win.

                            He usually does something spectacular.
Depends on whether is is spectacularly good or spectacularly stupid.

Although I agree with him the ability of Indian cricket to always somehow make themselves the victim is quite impressive.

At a friend's place and not watching. I've also had a few at this point as a PSA.

Anyone still want to blame the pitch for South Africa being shit at batting?

Na I blame them for being shit at batting for being shit at batting.

They had the golden period of Smith, Kallis, Amla and De Villiers. Time to join the rest of the cricketing mortals.
