Long hop by Shodi gets a wkt, shit gets wkts

This post just oozes drunkenness but it is that time of year so you’re excused.

Have you not seen a long hop before .

Yeah I have, I was just wondering who Shodi is though.

The leg spinner who bowls short long hops, full tosses and short pitched googlies,
He does not deserve his name spelt correctly until he can bowl leg spin.
In fact if NZ can not produce a decent spinner don’t pick crap options.

He’s better than Tamm Hrat and Mrak Ciarg though. Those guys were shit.

NZ just has an embarrassing bowling lineup ,For this series.
    Club level.

Yep, not sure of you read my edit but our depth is starting to get exposed when our top guys aren’t available.

Vettori must look at some of the options and shake his head in disgust.

Must be a decent young option in NZ they could pick and stick with him,Someone who can naturally spin the ball, control will come with time , I see young kids over here who can turn it sideways all the time,Control is lacking but they get picked as you can’t really teach a player to rip the ball it’s natural.
But you can help with the control factor with, volume bowling and a few tricks.

Let’s be honest, we were so lucky with Vettori for so long and I really wish he started his career ten years later to coincide with the class players who came after him.

But even then Vettori was a kiwi great…..not a genuine world class great.

Didn’t really spin the ball Vettori , clever bowler used changes of pace and angles really well.
He understood how to exploit any flaw in a batting technique.
With 4 of the test playing nations in the sub continent now you need decent spinners,as there will be a lot of test’s played there in the future.

Yep but we’re playing in a country that has produced Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar. All varying degrees of absolute class and better than anything the other three have produced. I think Timmy and Wags need to step up too.

Yea I agree they do,There is a truckload of young quicks still coming through their system even now.

I wonder how the fern will cope with Southee if he gets out cheaply and “irresponsibly”

His first test innings as captain will be compulsory viewing.

( says someone without sky and who will be in bed most likely )

The thing about Southee is that even when his batting fails he still has his bowling to fall back on.

Latham and Conway very solid with the bat thus far, Pakistan opting to utilise spin for most of the third session.

    Conway is 54 off 95, Latham 38 off 73

NZ 96/0 and trail by 342

It's not easy batting out there but these two are going well. Some balls are staying low and others are coming through normally.

I think we need to bat big in this innings because we wouldn't want to be chasing too much in the fourth innings.

Absolutely not. The game plan from here is to bat another day and a half and bowl Pakistan out without having to bat again.

The question is whether we can achieve that though.

Despite his recent lean years I’m picking Warner although there is possibly someone obvious I’m missing.

Speaking of openers what an awesome performance from ours. Waking up to a scoreline like that when you imagine four or five down is definitely possible is heartwarming.

I would like to know who all other openers faced? Tom didn’t like playing strong test teams

Still stat looks good doesn’t it!

The top run scorer faced Bangladesh a few times.
It worked out as being not much difference due to the World Test Championship most teams played each other on a regular basis and around about the same amount of times for all the opening bats.

So the goal today would be to score quickly without taking any risks or losing wickets.

If we can be say 200 up at the end of the day with 8-9 wickets in hand that would be an OK day.

I can’t see us making 638 to be 200 ahead.

Ball is starting to turn a bit more today. Still staying low.

Ominous signs for Pakistan if they have to hold out just to draw on day 5.

    Great 100 Tommy 13th test 100.
Batting becoming tough now, ball is keeping low unless it’s spinning out of the rough when it is leaping a bit.
Batting on this pitch in day 4 and 5 will be very very tough.
