What is the strategy this morning? I would have thought reasonably quick runs were in order but it seems we are just batting time?

My guess is we're trying to avoid batting last, and they're not bothered whether that's by weight of runs, or weight of time...

I'd say if we we'd do well to lose from here. I think we could be pushing a bit.

I hate to belabour the point, and I appreciate I am speaking to myself mainly; but this is just wasting time.

Sodhi is 22 off 101 balls. That's barely above 1 an over.

Surely to goodness we cannot lose from here and we should be trying to score some runs in quick succession so that we might win.

it does feel pretty negative, like we are currently playing to take the loss out of the equation. which is bitch cricket in only the 2nd innings

Only hope is that it’s a bit like yesterday’s morning session, and that the arrival of the new ball makes scoring a lot easier

I guess a declaration at tea tomorrow should be safe enough.

We're batting ourselves into a position to really apply pressure and g6ave a good crack at Pakistan. I'm ok with this... Just need some time, but the longer they're in the field the harder is to bat

2.47 run rate for the session is slow. When the team is 450+ surely 3.5 is the minimum rpo.

Are we going to bat past tea?

I think we should aim to bat until halfway through the final session today then give ourselves 3 and a half sessions to bowl them out on a day 5 pitch.

I’m not sure this day 5 pitch will offer a great deal to our bowlers.

It’s not breaking up as yet, once you get in it’s hard to get out as you get the pace of the pitch.
It is staying a bit low but that’s just normal.
It will not be easy to get 10 wkts in 3 or 3 1/2 sessions.

Pakistan don't have a great batting lineup, we just need to get Babar early and we'll have them in all sorts of trouble on the 5th day. Agree though I expected the pitch to break up a bit more by now.

Maybe not. But many a time in test cricket it suddenly looks a different game when the fresh bowlers come out.

I reckon we should just bat for the draw and see if Williamson can make it to 400. Maybe that will teach Pakistan to stop serving up such crap pitches
