    Nicholls run of meh continues.

His away record is terrible compared to his home record, so don't be expecting a century when you think he will be axed.

    Home: 48.02, 7 x 100s
    Away: 22.30, 0 x 100s

Bracewell is obviously Stead's new pet player.

I’ve got the overseas average higher with one ton but your point stands.

Henry Nicholls - Performance Analysis by venue Home / Away - Test Cricket

A case can be made for him to never tour and just be brought out at home.

Bracewell seems to be as ‘part rounder’ as is humanly possible, destined to bat or bowl ok every now and again to make people forget the shit in between, and be persisted with for ages.

I’d rather his spot be taken by a specialist

    that Aussie twit

    Narrows it down

Well, Australia have FOUR in the top eight. Was referring to Smith and Bus change.

Conway getting out means it “dips” to 57.50.

I still predict a terrific career for him though, there’s just too much poise, talent, temperament etc for this to be a case of “a great start”.

The tests in the UAE and the WTC final are considered neutral venues so aren't included in those stats. Nicholls did score a century in the UAE.

Disappointing score to wake up o given our start, and what is was when I turned off.

Me too - and when I saw the score I expected Naseem had got it reversing, not that Salman had gaffed us.

Ish bowled by a great ball. If we fail to get to a big total it will be because of our poor middle order. At least the seamers appear to be a serious factor on this pitch, we will have a chance for our pacers to go at them. There doesn't appear to be a soul in the crowd. Are they playing to an empty stadium on purpose or are we simply not a draw card?

Well that’s a surprise. score on a triple Nelson and Southee makes a good call for a review.

As discussed in first test. No one is interested much anymore after so long with the game away from the country and the team not winning. The tickets are even free.

I missed the earlier discussion, but yeah taking the game away from Pakistan is a sore point for a lot of their fans, it's going to take a while for that resentment to die away and for them to fully embrace live cricket again after watching it on T V for such a long time. Sad situation but they had to do it, and I'm still not 100% convinced it's as safe as they are making it out to be now.

We really need 400 here to be par. Seems the captaincy has FINALLY made Southee at least try to bat responsibly.

The TSF jinx is as strong as ever.

    Southee throws his wicket away.

Southee out. 3rd umpire should focus on the obvious dismissal first.

What a sad state of affairs.

Pakistan have given the world some of the greatest players of all time. To see the “crowd” like this is depressing.

Great last stand. This is turning a well below par total to just a below par total. Hopefully it is annoying the heck out of the Pakistanis as well.

It is well past our previous highest batting first score in Pakistan so above par IMO.

But yeah. At the start of the day I thought around 360 so this is all added bonus.

Plenty of foot marks for the spinners outside off to both the RH and LH, But need to hit the right length to exploit them

Big delicious mince pies are obviously the national dish of Pakistan judging by Henry’s selection…..

Look I loved his efforts against SA last year…..but does anyone seriously think he’s capable of anything resembling that in hostile overseas conditions ?

Very harsh on a proven performer like Wags. Not impressed.

    Slightly belated assessment.... 🙂

Six more runs to match his 58 vs South Africa!

His extra pace might be handy pitching it up against the tail....

Wags was pretty ordinary in test 1.

    Already exceeding expectations.
