I stupidly started watching the 1st ep of The Last Of Us late last night, a bit tired...

Only ended up watching about half of the 80 min ep, 1 cos I was tired, but man that opening part was pretty intense, had to watch an ep of Parks and Rec to chill before sleeping.

Kinda reminded me of the first or second ep of Fear the Walking Dead when the world was falling apart, both were really tense and compelling watching, and I think many post-apocalyptic series/movies fail to put more into this side of things.

The most recent episode of The Last of Us was full on. I had been careful to avoid any spoilers as Ep5 aired on Friday in the US so it didn't clash with today's Super Bowl.

@Bovidae was a good episode and they tied the 'newly created' villain in really well. The scene with Pedro behind the gun was a good homage to the same scene in the game.

    ##spoiler
Biggest disappointment from the game to tv was when they went through the tunnels. I was surprised they cut this short as it's quite an emotional part from the game.

The Last of Us is really well done isn’t it?

I’ve never played the game, no idea about any of the back story. Ep 3, to someone like me, makes no sense. Why was it there, what did it add? I should have hated it.

And yet it was still massively compelling. The Ron Swanson factor is always massive 😎, but it wasn’t just that. It was just a great piece of storytelling.

    Up to Ep5 and hooked

Just finished bingeing S2 of Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime. I know he’s a bit marmite but Jezza is genuinely good at flying the flag for British farming, with several quite touching moments. All the old characters from S1 appear and are in great form. Excellent.

Yeah see my only "issue" is I keep seeing bits like ep. 3 and going - well how the hell does that fit into a video game? Got to just enjoy it as a TV series but I do find myself doing that. It explained quite a bit about "outside" and how there just happened to be a random house they could go to for all the supplies they might need.

Ep 3 is pretty much a TV only add on, no idea why they did it, apart from to have a gay storyline in? It didn't advance the plot really, although it was great on it's own

This is how someone, who is familiar with the game, summarised Ep3:

This episode started with Joel still pretty closed off and sceptical about the value of saving one life. It then shows the journey that Bill went on with Frank, and how he came to feel differently over time, leading to him opening up to Joel in his letter about it. Regardless of what happens in the plot itself, it's absolutely relevant to the emotional journey that Joel and Ellie are on.

    Ok so...

What I'm struggling with is how they can just run a couple of hundred metres in the dark and they're alone again. Why aren't there any infected pursuing them or "hunting" around the general area?

Dunno! It doesn't really work like that in the game. The 'Runners' can see/hear you so you'd need to be quite far away not to be chased. 'Clickers' can only hear you so they're easier to get away from.

Infected usually stick to certain areas where they're 'connected'. You don't usually see that many out in the general area.

@Bovidae I watched E3 last night, I think it provided some background and context and shows how Joel starts his journey, to me form comments I have seen, it seems plenty are still uncomfortable with gay (man on man) scenes on TV, and this can alter thier perception of things.

@taniwharugby Sure, but it's HBO not FTA TV.

Likewise, I am certain a section of society weren't happy to see the Gadsden flag hanging on Bill's basement wall, given what we later discover about him.

Full Swing came out on Netflix yesterday. All 8 episodes available too.

Watched the first couple with the wife and even she enjoyed it (she also loves the F1 drive to survive and the tennis one Match Point)

Mentioned Wednesday a few weeks back, which is actually pretty good, but hopeless casting of Gomez. This sums it up pretty well:

Anyone seen this on Netflix? The Koreans makes some pretty cool TV.

Started watching Santa Clarita Diet again. Not many shows I watch a second time but it baffles me that this one was canned and not relaunched. Barrymore and Olyphant are great together and the script is tight.
If you’ve not watched it do so.

Also have been dabbling at Shrinking in AppleTV. Has its moments and I would never last hour long eps but watching for Harrison Ford. His dry delivery and comedic chops fit perfectly when given lines better than George Lucas can write.

Mindhunter is awesome, and it really baffles me they're not making more of it.

I haven't watched Santa Clara Diet even though I'm a huge Justified fan and did a rewatch last year.
