@cgrant DMac was the form No.10 at the end of last year when he played for NZ IV, he should have got game time against England. Saders had at least three forwards returning from serious injury and a few newbies. We were without Will Jordan so difficult to gage how Shaun Stevenson may go in the tests, although he must be knocking on the door. Is Cullen Grace okay injury wise?

I am hearing Grace has broken his shoulder again gone for the season.

    God that sucks

For the few minutes he was on, what was hugely evident was both he and Blackadder were the only forwards who actually run on to the ball. And it made them ultra effective.

Yep poor bugger gutting for Grace.
I thought Lilo - Willie also got over the advantage line a few times.

Seriously gutted if true. Last year he was just getting better and better.

Yeah I am hearing from a good source but he still has to have a scan, that was from the X Ray
Collar bone fracture on the same shoulder as last year.
I hope it is not as bad as they think it is.

    Slow starters and all that….

But there are some concerning signs, halfback play in particular. Whilst he wasn’t rated highly on here, but Bryn Hall has been excellent for us over the past couple of years and we missed him last night. I don’t have a lot of confidence in those two that played.

Other than Grace (before he went off) and Blackadder, we lacked pace from our forwards.

10-15 was a bit up and and down. I think we have a good mix of pieces there but we need some leadership out there.

Agree about the HB with the game speeding up Heinz at 36 got exposed to slow and Drummond was ponderous .
Maybe we need to bite the bullet and throw Hotham in to the deep end,he adds a extra running threat as well.

What was the story with Taylor? They missed him when he went off too.

I'm finally getting around to reading this thread.

So who is the Chiefs defence coach?

Good question. I think David Hill has taken over that role.

Has Ratima bulked up a bit?

I think so, but he looked bigger pre-NPC last year too.

    A couple of brief comments:

    (1) Great to see Stevenson at fullback, even if it is 12 months too late.
    (2) The Chiefs did well enough with two WTG wingers playing. Hopefully whatever forced ENS to be a late withdrawal isn't too serious. It looked like Malimali was in Chch but not trusted to start yet.

I am expecting some rotation for the MP game this weekend.

Poihipi to come in at 2nd 5. Maybe Rona gets a chance on the bench.

    Might Josh Ioane cover 12?

I'm sure he will, but it's centre cover that would be a problem. Poihipi was used there in Pukekohe.

I know it's a contact sport but gee the injury wards for each super team seem to get bigger and bigger. Of course no evidence to prove that but I would be interested to see the number of games missed via injury by year. If you total all the players who are injured it must be a lot.
