    Well done KW.

Will all due respect to Rossco who was a hell of a caretaker this record belongs to you alone.

    Next target 10,000 !!!!!!!

If you were picking the best NZ cricket team of my lifetime most of the squad would come from the first 14 names on the highest run getters list - plus Bond and Boult - you could extend to 16 names to include Turner and give Macca a free trip somewhere!.

It’s a bit of a sad indictment on our cricket that Vettori is ninth on that list !

It wasn't televised, but his batting effort in the CWC Semi 2015 at EP was sensational. All the pressure, and he strolled out to the middle like it was a sunny afternoon at a park. Chatted to the Hairy Jav, then wound up slapping a few ugly runs and turning over the strike. The calming effect and confidence was massive for us.

    Also, 18 year career. Crazy.

    The Vettori style.

"I don't care whether you bowl at me, down my legside or to the off - short, good length or full, it will end up going through third man."

……and until Ross Taylor emerged and McCullum found his mojo he was the best batsman in the BCs for a very depressing period !

England currently throwing out a hugely negative field, partnered with horribly negative bowling.

There was an absurd innings in an ODI where we were getting thumped until he came in at 8 and scored 70 odd off 50 odd and we ended up losing by a few runs. He was the last one out, bowled around his legs by one pitching on off stump he'd walked so far across.

I think the 'almost recovery' is an integral part of his legacy. We'd be out of it, only for him and another lower order bat to get us back in with a chance but then came up just short.

Another ton to add to his impressive record. 26 tons overall now. Has also made 33 test fifties. Imagine if he had coverted just a dozen of those into 100s

    Really Harsh.

    He’s no Stephen Fleming…….

That’s a pretty bloody decent conversion rate if you ask me. Up there with the very best. For comparison Tendulkar was 51/68, Ponting 41/62, Kallis 45/58, Dravid 36/63, Sangakkara 38/52, Lara 34/48……

    Good work, boys.

But, we still need another 150 runs minimum to have much chance IMO.

    20+ centuries
    Kane 44%

    Over 50%
    Azharuddin
    Bradman
    Clarke
    Hayden
    Younis Khan

    Kohli 49%
    Sobers 46%
    Steve Smith 44.78%

So, up there, but not with the very best.
Good compared to some of the batsmen rated best ever though

Marty Crowe had a better conversion rate but not over 20 centuries.

@No-Quarter Because we're one-down in the series, I think we've got to give them sniff and enough carrot to keep chasing.

I'm thinking 350 off 70 overs - which would be the same rate they scored at in the first innings.

If the pitch is a road they'll probably make them.

    Yeah not an exact yardstick.

Flemings conversion rate was notably appalling but he still got quite a number of crucial 60/70/80 odd scores in his time.

With one obvious and massive exception KW is as good or better than anyone on that 50% list though.

Back to the action and he’s gone but he’s done his job and got us in there. Still a massive onus on Blundell and whoever can support him to get the last day total as tricky as possible for England to chase.

    What happened to Bracewell ?

From your descriptions it sounds like it’s giving his detractors ( of which I am one ) some ammo

ran over teh crease for an easy single, didn't ground his bat or his foot and got run out. Insane.

So had a chance to prove us all wrong and fucked it ?

Jeepers I hope Wags can support Blundell for a well deserved ton at the very least ( preferably more )
