What do these guys think is going to happen if they answer "adult human female"?

Are they genuinely that scared of <1% of their voting base?

He’s been trying to portray himself as “Chippy from the block “ a down to earth working class boy from the hutt who’s focused on bread and butter issues .
It only took one question to remind everyone he’s a career politician who’s completely immersed in politics and utterly out of touch with the general population.

Massive , massive own goal on his part .

No coverage on Newshub, the Herald or stuff.

Sean Plunkett who asked Hipkins the question managed to get himself permanently suspended from twitter today and they are all covering that though .

Hipkins is trending either first or second on Twitter here though . He was thrashwanking today about criticism of Ardern being misogynist and then couldn’t say what a woman is. This is basically impossible to parody now.

Was speaking to my parents over the weekend.

Despite being pretty up to speed on NZ events, neither of them had any idea of the violence against Nana's at the Trans rally in Auckland.

So you can be pretty sure that him coming across like a moron here won't be coverage. Yet, if he'd said something that could vaguely be offensive to trans .... well, watch the shit fly.

It has international traction now, but still our media determines it's not news worthy despite how much utterly stupid shit they report on. I just hate that I have absolutely zero trust in our media now. They are just the fucking worst.

After the white supremacist symbol which turned out to be doing up a zip nothing surprises me anymore.

In contrast when Chris Luxon used the phrase “bottom feeders “ it was used as an out of context headline , there was articles in all the media outlets and follow up op eds in all of them condemning him .
They really do have their thumb on the scale , Hipkins made an absolute fool of himself yesterday and the footage has been shared on every social media platform and the likes of J K Rowling who has millions of followers has shared it and taken the piss out of him . Yet not one of our mainstream media outlets has covered it .

    Stuff

It's filtering through in my experience though. People that aren't closely following politics in my life are starting to ask about these sorts of topics.

Social media does spread these ideas past the gatekeeping press.

That non-answer from Hipkins is a slap in the face for all woman in NZ.

He should lose best part of 50% of the popular vote just for that one instance.

I genuinely find it hard to believe that any sane person can argue with any single part of that.

Perhaps, therein lies the issue. Sanity.

Can anyone explain the first two paragraphs of this story ...

Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete and failed California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner has been an adamant opponent of letting transgender athletes compete against people of the same sex.

Tuesday, she announced that he was launching a political action committee called “Fairness First” with a focus on keeping transgender athletes from competing against girls and women.

Second is a typo misgendering. First is the main point (sex being different from gender), biological males (sex) shouldn't be competing against biological females.

Is she not an opponent of letting transgender athletes (specifically trans identifying males) competing against people of the opposite sex.

I am starting to get pretty adamant that biological sex needs to be taught front and centre to children.

In particular, that biological sexes are different in a number of significant ways, and are immutable.

Put simply, whichever gender you adopt your biological sex will be with you until your dying breath.

I have absolutely no problem with either sex identifying as either gender, and from time to time swapping between them.

But I think teenagers need to have rammed home to them that a biological man who has his penis removed will remain a biological man, even if he spends the rest of his life in the feminine gender. And vice versa.

The more I think about this the more trans gender surgery seems unnatural. Which tends to suggest it ought to be restricted to unusual circumstances.

    Oops?
