I've been to work still pissed on a few occasions back in the day. Definitely better when you work in sales/account management ( as opposed to air traffic control or something important ) and if the state I was in was on account of being out drinking with clients, if you're hitting budget management laugh it off. I can proudly say I have NEVER EVER not gone to work cos of boozing the night before, I was basically an unstoppable machine in my 20s, in the last five years this has seriously ground to a halt but the analogy with sports is pretty accurate. You wouldn't expect Hamish Carter to dominate a triathlon after stopping training, it's similar to me not binge drinking like I used to, hence feeling pretty shit a few weeks back.

I have Scots/Irish blood, it was as natural as a black dude being an awesome sprinter.

I've also never let it get in the way of being a Dad to my boys, particularly after separating I don't want them thinking of me as a pisshead although, as my Dad did with me, I can't wait to share a few silly stories when they're older.

Yeah before my first kid was born, I used to hit it at least 3 nights a week. And why not. I was living in freezing arctic tundraville and had nothing else to do. If I'd been living somewhere warm it might have been different. Weekends are a different kettle of fish when the sky is blue and the temp is 30 plus as opposed to grey, dark and minus 10. Christ I used to eat some shit too. I used to have a breakfast milkshake with full cream milk, Nestle quick, 2 eggs, a banana and 2 scoops of icecream. Sometimes lunch would just be 1.5 litres of milk and crackers. Thank God I snapped out of that.

Anyway, the 2016 version of me did legs this morning and had a sensible bowl of oats with a protein/egg/berry shake.

Rare afternoon session today. Thought the gym would be packed, but was hardly anyone there. Very nice.

Shoulders then a little tickle of the biceps. Did some skipping to warm up. Am seriously getting hooked on this skipping stuff.

Run tomorrow.

Just back from late evening session. Bloody good. Didn't feel like going and would have been nice to stay at home with the heater and TV but damn happy I went. Eating hasn't been great so I need the training offsets.

Was chest and tris with some abs and skipping.

Backs and biceps. Felt really good

    So where were we:

Wednesday: Didn't do sheet unfortunately. Piss poor effort.

Thursday: Shoulders. Well smashed as usual. Skipping in evening.

Friday: Legs and tickle of arms.

Saturday: 45 minute run.

Am skipping as my warmup at the gym. Great stuff but can really root the legs.

    Saturday continued

Reffed son's soccer game. I actually had to work this time. Heaps of back and forth and potentially disputed goals. As the home ref I see why you can overcompensate the other way to avoid looking biased.

Sunday: Skipping and basketball with youngest. Fark I wish I was him.

Today: Chest and triceps. Good fast session. Felt good.

Tuesday: Had pretty terrible night and couldn't get up for the morning session. Was going to make up for it that evening but work got in the way.

Wednesday: Back and biceps. Not bad.

Thursday: Shoulders. Ok but not as intense because mate was there. We never have the same routines and end up yakking like old women.

Trying to tidy the diet up a bit. Since the incident heaps of people have been making food for us. I'm eternally grateful for that but there's been a hell of alot of lasagne and pasta. With things a bit calmer now I have to clean it up. I feel bloated much of the time and I absolutely hate that feeling. Having lived with a cheat day for about 4 years it's also difficult to not cheat on that day because they body has become so used to being spoilt.

Should also do more running but I'm a total soft cock on these "winter" evenings. Can't believe I used to run in subzero temps.

Keep it ticking over bro - you've got a bunch on your plate so I wouldn't beat yourself up if the odd workout slips... or the kai is a bit too appealing!!

    Legs and arm tickle today.

Was a long period there when I wasn't doing legs so it's nice to get back into it. I've always been a gym man more than a pounding pavement man.

Found out this hardcore dude who trains at my gym has gone to Thailand for 6 months of training. I think its that traditional kickboxing style thing. 8 hours a day out in the jungle. Not my cup of tea but mutchos respect to that.

Saturday: 40 min run plus pullups and dips.

Sunday: Due to knee issues and on the advice of the wife of a mate I've starting trampoline skipping. My parents had one of those mini trampolines from way back, so picked that up and gave it a go. It's a bitch getting started with the rope length and all that but is great when you get the hang of it. Certainly works the legs but doesn't destroy the knees. Reckon I'll try and do 15 minutes of this most nights instead of the running.

Monday: Chest and tris. Good session.

I quite enjoyed skipping on grass back at my old place, haven't found anywhere really suitable now though and don't want to be one of "those guys" at the park so it's been put on hold for other exercises at the moment.

Yeah that's a bit of a problem. Felt like a bit of an idiot skipping out front. But I still found even the grass a bit hard.

Actually those buggers are causing a few problems. There's a suburb about 10-15 minutes from me with a park near a big artificial lake. It's a popular running destination, but it has become infested with those Pokemon hunter people. Adults of course, not kids.

Catch up.

Tuesday: Back and biceps. Was sore as a mofo after the previous day so didn't smash back too much but arms copped a fair bashing.

Wednesday: Skip jumping in evening.

Thursday: Shoulders. Not bad.

Today: Stupidly started watching Straight Outta Compton quite late and got hooked. Didn't get to bed until far too late so farked up the early start for gym. Was a beautiful day so decided to go for a run in my lunch break. I don't know where the winter went but it was about 30 bloody degrees today. Don't know why but after 40 minutes I ran onto the oval and did 4x 400m plus pullups and dips. Got home in the end but I was getting dizzy as. Took a while to recover. Overdid it but I needed to get out.

Reckon I'll hammer some legs tomorrow.

Saturday: Legs hammered and arms tickled. Reffed son's soccer again. I'm starting to enjoy this and am moving around the pitch a bit more. Normally I'm mute on the pitch but had to yell at my son a few times because he was playing like a drugged sloth. That's one thing I hate. I shower my kids with complements if they try their best but if they go out there halfarsed it really pisses me off.

Sunday: Ran the line at other son's rugby. They played their best match of the season and absolutely destroyed the number 2 side. Was beautiful to watch. The 8-9 tries also meant that I was running the entire time. It was the first time Ive seen yellow cards come out in a rugby game at that level. The other team started losing their shit and were swinging arms and tackling late.

Monday: Chest and tris. Really good session and am feeling it today. My son wanted me to show him clap pushups that evening, but I was so sore I could barely manage two. Tried some trampoline skipping but it was a bit of a debacle.

Needed a decent sleep today, but will hopefully hit the gym tonight.

Oh yeah, eldest son woke me up early this morning so I could see his six pack.
