Technically a movie but related to a TV series. The Last kingdom - Seven Kings Must Die.

For me the series gradually got more and more mediocre the longer it went on. So the question here is whether the one off TV film could go back to what originally made the series good or would it just milk the cow?

Without question the tit has run dry. Dryer than a spinster witch’s tit. It’s fucking awful. Just a montage of individual cut scenes that tell no story and frankly are just conning the audience to keep the Netflix subs going. Just dross.

    No tits.

@Catogrande i use to be a HUGE bernard cornwell fan, read everything he released....but even this series of books just dragged....i got to the point i couldn;t remember what happened from one book to the next so i gave up

His Winter King series would have made a great 3 season series, done and dusted

Anyone see Beef on Netflix? Had the guy who played Glenn on WD. First episode had that mix of potential and meh. Not sure whether to bother continuing.

    That's putting it fucking charitably.
I recently finished book 5, and thought "fuck... the last 3 books have been identical. Still... it's probably just the 1 more to tick off, and then I can forget about it."
Look up the name of the next one to download... What The Actual Fuck!? There's a total of 13 of the fluffybunnies? Just... HOW? How on earth can he fucking stretch this out for another EIGHT books?
Sharpe was repetitive as fuck, but at least slightly amusing. This is just repetitive dire whinging by a grown man.

@Kruse damn! i think i got to book 5 or 6....but the fact i couldn't tell you which one tells you everything i think...i legitimately couldn't get back into them without risking buying a book ive already read

i know there are lots of the sharpes novels but at least they still follow the course of the war so you feel its still progressing....fucked if i could tell you a timeline of these novels which is sad

I haven't read any of the books, but watched all seasons of the show. It's fine as a late night switch your brain off when all you want is a few battles and the odd attractive actress.

TBH, I thought the show improved from the first season on, as it reminded me of the first season of Vikings, limited budget at first to see of it was a success which made the world seem small, then increasing budgets and larger/better battle scenes.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I watched ep 2 last night, has potential although unsure how they keep it going for 10, but most reviews say it picks up from ep 3...

    @Kruse but wait!!!! There's more

The final Last Kingdom book was published in 2020, but for the author the story felt unfinished: there were some Uhtred tales he still wanted to tell, and over the course of writing the books he’d become fascinated by some elements of the Anglo-Saxon world that it wasn’t possible to fully explore in the novels.

When he met renowned chef Suzanne Pollak, the idea for Uhtred’s Feast was born. And here Bernard Cornwell tells those additional Uhtred stories, showing us the man behind the shield – as a young boy, as Alfred’s advisor, and as prince – while Suzanne brings his world to life through beautifully crafted recipes which open a door into the Anglo-Saxon home . . .

I reckon all those recipes feature a gravy train

    Awesome, S4 of Barry!

For some reason I thought S3 was the final.

The Hunt for Raoul Moat (ITV) - 3 parter on killer Raoul Moat who shot his ex, her partner and blinded a policeman in 2010 and then killed himself after a stand-off with police.

Nothing original but a really, really well done and acted doco which didn't just cover the killings and manhunt but also the interaction with the media and how some people saw him as some kind of here.

A few of my mates hyped this up so much that I was disappointed by the first episode. Will watch second tonight.
