@maxwell Napier only arrived back from competing in the Sannix World Schools Tournament up in Japan (something like five games over 7 days) only a few days beforehand and clearly the tiredness factors involved were too much.
Think the best part of thirty players went on the trip so fielding even their 2nd XV (Wellington College's lack of competitiveness graphically exposed in their earlier Tranzit Series outing against Hastings where they got pummelled by over sixty) was not an option either.

Matamata College played Pukekohe HS Dev on Friday night so this game wouldn't have happened.

It was an Under 19 team from Counties. Every Friday night Counties host a game for any Under 19 players that want a game, this team was made up from those players.

The World Schools Festival will be held from 12 to 17 December 2023. They'll add more competitions to the Cup competition, but no further explanation yet, than this:

We are planning to go bigger and even better in 2023 and adding 3 new 8 team competition categories for U18s men and women to compete. These new competitions will be added to the WSF week, alongside the Cup competition, and ensure more opportunities for schools and teams to participate
