@taniwharugby because the first two movies were missions, it's just evolved that starting point. That's fine IMO, especially over what 6 or 7 movies?

Wasn't a fan of the early MI movies as I thought the link to the original TV series was extremely tenuous and the plots silly. Have to give credit to Cruise though that he worked away at making them a vehicle for his stunt work.
While Bond was getting all emo, and F&F sillier, Cruise has taken the aspects of the old Bond movies that we loved and stretched them into a great ride.

I’m not sure about the Bond comparisons but his aviators are on point I’ll give him that

@Nepia The most mission impossible movie I've seen is the first Oceans 11.

These are the greatest spy movies going though, and proper "you have to see it on a big screen" experiences.

Oceans 1 is just a terrific movie isn't it? Amazing cast, perfect plot, right level of complication and cool. So good.

@MN5 It's a full on Bond movie, Fallout is one of the best actions movies I've ever seen as well. The Helicopter sequence is unique.

    Plane
IMDB will try and tell you that this movie is something as complicated as "A pilot finds himself caught in a war zone after he's forced to land his commercial aircraft during a terrible storm."
    It's not.
Kruse is here to tell you:

    • Gerard Butler
    • Titwatch: zero.

    That is all.

Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)

I seem to watch this every decade or so as it's one bloody great movie. Not just an outstanding neo-western, it's also a film about racism and prejudice which makes it point effortlessly without being virtuous or preachy.

If you haven't seen it, don't be put by the fact it's nearly 70 years old. It's one of the great films and hasn't aged a bit.

5 One-armed assassins out of 5 Evil Bastards.

It looks shit. Gerard Butler has become a parody of himself even quicker than John Travolta, Liam Neeson and Bruce Willis put together.

@MN5 It was fine, Butler polishing a turd here. I went in with low expectations and they were met.

Felt like a 90s movie, was short too.

I have to agree, after a really heavy week at work (ending with 3 consecutive days of very heavy workshops going 9+ hours) and a few well deserved beverages after, this was just the kind of movie that hit the spot, light, moderately entertaining, no thinking required, some action, nothing to heavy, etc.

Butler did as much as he could to elevate the movie and there were a few hot chicks to keep a bit of interest as well.

Fast X: I really don't know if this was a good or bad movie, it's probably both, but it's also the most movie I'll see this year.

Embrace the stupidity and it's a fun ride. Don't embrace it and it will feel very long.

I was reminded to post that I've seen it by the Butler film discussion and now I hope he turns up in one of the rumoured to be now two more parts.

Momoa is great as the villain, essentially doing a Heath Ledger Joker style performance but with tongue firmly in cheek. Contrast that with Vin Diesel who thinks he's in a modern Citizen Kane.

I hope everyone comes back Endgame style for the final film.

I’ve never seen a single one of those movies, ever.

    Yep - that was fun.
Finnish Eastwood fighting Nazis as imagined by Tarantino/Rodriguez on a coke-binge.
    Can't go fucking wrong.
4.5 flying body-parts out of 5 mining-picks to the skull. Or knives through the skull? Or unnecessary gratuitous shots of the insides of a human being?
