@Number-10 Thank you! Maybe I missed an article in the HBT that mentions it, I don't know, but I couldn't find any explanation. Is it because Div 2 became too big (too many games)?

No report from me this week as I got boxed it at the Pirates car park so had to stay and watch a Division 3 game there after my Under 21s got dumped by Pirates. Must say I thoroughly enjoyed the skill level on display and it made for a very enjoyable 60 minutes or so that I watched.

Yes. With 8 teams they can get a full round robin played before playoffs and final - which they couldn't do with 14 teams.

Nash Cup 27 May 2023 (final week)

    Tech v Tamatea
    Havelock North v Clive
    MAC v Hastings
    Pirates v Taradale
    Central v Aotea

It's safe to say that Tech will win the Nash Cup, tomorrow, with Tamatea as their last opponent.

It could become a Tech double, with the Tech women playing Clive in the Marsh Cup Final.

Please note the early kick off time of 1315hrs for the Altherm Tech v Tamatea game. Not sure why other than to allow Nash Cup winning celebrations to start earlier than normal. My Metro Direct Texan Colts have now been relegated to Whitmore Park's Number 2 Field at the same time as a result so it will mean I will not be able to get to see outstanding flanker Nik Patumaka debut at prop!

Vaguely remember Tiaki Fabish playing for NOBM or Taradale, last year, but this year it's Pirates.

@stargazer It has just dawned on me that the earlier kick off times are probably because a lot of the guys will want to get along to McLean Park to take in the Warriors v Brisbane NRL clash kicking off at 5.30pm. Having a real early kick off time in my guys game is probably to accommodate the Tamatea people as Tohu Harris, the Warriors captain, is from their Marae and they are probably providing the Maori welcome etc for the teams at the game. Whitmore Park works out quite handy for them too as it is an easy 15 minute walk to McLean Park so can wander up there after having a few warmers in the Tech Clubrooms to prepare themselves!

Sheesh, that's some timely additions for Hastings.

Wonder what they did to piss off Mauger, they've been in OK form.

@Higgins just saw the score on tribe. Did Tamatea start their 15min walk to McLean park at half time and Tech just played themselves after that.

Don't know as I was over on the No. 2 Ground dealing to my Under 21s playing Napier Old Boys (and even though our Metro Direct Tech guys won it was an ordeal watching the standard of play with both teams having an off day skills wise - our guys got up with a 78th minute converted try getting our noses in front 46 - 39 no doubt much to @Stockcar86 's disappointment!).Think it was something like 47 - 06 to our Altherm Tech Premier guys at halftime and the final score was something like high 80s to an unknown score. I got told Tamatea did not give up at any stage despite the overwhelming odds and did manage a try in the second half. Nash Cup winning celebrations were humming along nicely when I had to leave The Nest. Our ladies also tonked Clive something like 37 - 17 to win the Marsh Cup so it was a real good day for Tech!
