that makes me sad
I saw it an instantly thought "holy shit True Lies was friggen awesome, i assume this is a sequal set like down the track?"
And then the first review i saw was scathing. Now you guys.
I'll just go watch True Lies again
Disneyplus also has a series now called True Lies based on the movie. I like the idea in principle as I also liked the movie, but perhaps it was the wrong platform to build the series on. Overly sanitized and boring.

Just finished
Loved it
Started out unsure of itself - satire, comedy, rom-com, political drama - with shades of The Thick of It, Veep, and Designated Survivor then transitioned to a taut political thriller with excellent writing and dialogue
Rory Kinnear's performance as Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge should be award worthy
He seamlessly and expertly combined all the worst traits of Blair, Cameron, Johnson & Hancock to craft an entirely believable British politician / PM
Keri Russell commands the screen
Can't wait for Season 2

@MiketheSnow I still found it strange that Rufus Sewell was cast to play an American. I realise he did the same in The Man in the High Castle.

And did it with aplomb
Just don't tell Michael Sheen

One of my all time favourite series.
Seeing this on another platform has me rewatching the series again and already nearing the end of season 1.
Not the sort of TV that ages badly, well written and well acted. Also a big fan of Olyphant which has me asking myself again, why the hell was Santa Clarita Diet cancelled as it was such a good dark comedy.

Double like.
I am also just at the end of S1 as a rewatch and have always been baffled about SCD. That was a brilliant show. The chemistry between Olyphant and Barrymore just fed the show to the point where it almost seemed ad libbed.I am house sitting at the moment and the kick ass big TV here had Motion Smoothing turned on which made Justified look really cheap and unwatchable (soap opera effect). Once I found the setting and turned it off it hooked me again.
Looking forward to the new show.

@MiketheSnow am upto date on this, some silly cringey stuff, but otherwise very good and OTT, treads a weaving path taking the piss out of wokeness.

The Gallows Pole (BBC). Based on a true story of counterfeiters in late 1700's Yorkshire. Watched as it got rave reviews.
Crap acting, crap casting, crap camerawork, crap dialogue, crap sound - almost as the makers had the idea that locating a 21st anti-capitalist polemic into the 16th C would somehow work. Utter garbage.

Sounds worth a shot, thanks

Anyone seen Echo 3 on Apple TV? It's about a kidnapped US scientist in South America and her husband and brother (both Delta) attempting to rescue her.
It has all the looks of a prestigious Apple show but it's really not that good, I'm four eps in so I'll keep watching, but I'm mostly watching with an eye to how I'd improve it. The writing just seems really dumb.
Tem has a brief scene as an ex "NZ group" guest at the wedding of the main characters. I assume he turns up again in later episodes otherwise it's just a weird cameo.
