              He was at Clermont for 6 years? He was recruited at 16?

                  @Duluth

                  The translation is a little rough, but they have some information about him on their website

                  https://www.asm-rugby.com/equipe/joueurs/edward-annandale-deuxieme-ligne

                  Arrived from New Zealand at the age of 18 through Isaia Toeava, whose nephew he is, Edward integrated perfectly into the Clermont training center before establishing himself as one of the beams of the Espoirs pack. Endowed with an impressive physique and a mobility which is just as impressive, he nibbles, whenever he has the opportunity, precious minutes of play which contribute to his learning of the high level. At 22, he has a dozen game sheets in Yellow and Blue.

                    I guess it means they did not get McWhannell who was my choice to replace Robinson. Also maybe bad news for Josh Beehre or Alan Craig unless Plumtree goes to the Scarlets (see my post in the Exodus thread) and they move Suafoa back to the Loosies group. That would leave Patty T, Darry, Tucker, Annandale and Beehre/Craig as Locks. But then George33 said somewhere on here that Che Clark is signed, maybe for Plumtree?

                      NZ Rugby need more big locks. Clermont is a hell of a place to learn your trade early in your career. Good stuff.

                        Part of what looks like a small exodus from offshore Kiwis back to New Zealand in 2024. Hopefully just the beginning. Aussie are attracting a lot back next year.

                          It's one of the things I take interest in watching 1st XV/age-group rugby. There aren't as many as I would hope, and often locks at that level aren't tall enough to be a genuine lock at SR level.

                                    @Bovidae yeap, I see the same up here at club and schoolboy, most of the locks are 6/lock size, and the taller ones just dont seem robust enough for the next level.

                                      I wonder if it's a sign that Vern Cotter is confirmed given his connections with Clermont and his connections with Toeava.

                                          @Kirwan Yes, often clubs don't update physical stats season to season. He has no doubt spent much time in the gym over there. He comes on in jersey 19 at 64 mins in this game and has more involvement than in the previous example as Clermont have more possession this game.
