The Gallows Pole (BBC). Based on a true story of counterfeiters in late 1700's Yorkshire. Watched as it got rave reviews.
Crap acting, crap casting, crap camerawork, crap dialogue, crap sound - almost as the makers had the idea that locating a 21st anti-capitalist polemic into the 16th C would somehow work. Utter garbage.

Sounds worth a shot, thanks

@Victor-Meldrew 18th century?

Anyone seen Echo 3 on Apple TV? It's about a kidnapped US scientist in South America and her husband and brother (both Delta) attempting to rescue her.
It has all the looks of a prestigious Apple show but it's really not that good, I'm four eps in so I'll keep watching, but I'm mostly watching with an eye to how I'd improve it. The writing just seems really dumb.
Tem has a brief scene as an ex "NZ group" guest at the wedding of the main characters. I assume he turns up again in later episodes otherwise it's just a weird cameo.

@Nepia as it was apple, I was going to wait until finished before determining if I will subscribe or obtain...
I think it's finished already, the eps I'm watching are from 2022.

@Nepia thank you, was in the list but like TR, subscription isn't going to be around forever so will skip!
Yeah, there's much better stuff on Apple to run through before it. It suckered me in with special forces type stuff in the preview.

Well you’re in for a busy time then, between Apple, Prime and Netflix there are dozens of Spec Ops films and series, most of them similar in quality. What once drew me in now puts me off. I’ll probably watch Extraction 2 though.
As an aside, is it me or have all these streaming services dumbed down or cheapened their offerings?

@Catogrande says the guy from the same generation that considers Die Hard a Christmas movie.

Yeah I'm enjoying High Desert.
I started on Severance after seeing it was highly rated, but I thought the first episode was boring as fuck. Am I missing something?
-
@taniwharugby it's entertaining, more in an intriguing way than a great watch kinda way, if that makes sense.
-
I hate starting something and not finishing it because it does my head in when I can't get it off my 'continue watching' list.
-
@Crazy-Horse It's annoying eh! Don't know why these apps don't have a "Mark as Watched" like you can do with most Podcast apps.
I find the Apple Plus UI pretty shit. Not as bad as Discovery Plus or ITVX, but not far off.

Firstly you’re assuming my generation. Secondly you’re then conflating that with a generic viewpoint. I’m pretty sure you’re also ASSSUMING MY GENDER.
That makes you a racist.
-
@Catogrande you all look the same to me

Let’s hope that’s down to racism. I’d hate for you to be myopic.
