- Then... it became patchy. Most of it still felt "true to the original"... for better or worse.
- But... those moments of "for the worse"...
- The ending... not as good as the original. But nothing's ever going to better than the "hand grenade" line/endint.
- Better than Jason Statham's reboot shit. But I'm now going to re-watch those anyway, as stupid STUPID distractions
Don't get me wrong - this was shit. But I could understand why it was shit... it really was an "homage" to the original... for better or worse. Sometimes - for the better... sometimes - for the worse. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anybody who wasn't already a MASSIVE fan of the original.
And again: tit-watch: multiple.

If you don't like this type of movie don't go just to complain, go in knowing what you are going to get and you will enjoy it. American James Bond save the world format. For me not the best in the series and some action scenes for me crossed more into Fast and Furious type of set ups unfortunately. However there were still some slick Cruise moments as well...
Overall a good set up for the sequel just not the best in the series, synopsis is in the score

I liked this movie as an action blockbuster, but it is by far the stupidest plot of any MI. It's funny you mention Fast for the action as I thought the plotting was at that level as well. I'm genuinely surprised that this is a McQuarrie written and directed film. The main problem with the action scenes is that they were all awesome until the point they went on too long.
My two main peeves from the movie though (will spoiler as they're both plot related):
With any discussion of MI on this thread I've mentioned how I want them to just do an old school mission with no going "rogue" and they faked us out by making it look like this was going to happen at the start - before they resorted to type.I like Rebecca Fergusson and don't like Hayley Atwell so am annoyed they killed the wrong one off.
Personally, I'd probably drop 0.5 off your rating, which I think is about right for a switch of your brain blockbuster.

I tend to agree with his second spoiler plot as well
Its still a fun watch, but most MI fans I think will find this one not as good as some of the previous versions.

The Academy has been woke as fuck for as long as I can remember. Virtually every best picture winner of the last 20 years looks absolutely unwatchable shit in my opinion.

I watched it all. My 10yr was strangely into it.
I’m with you, thought it was a bit meh, certainly not Oscar-worthy. All the characters were annoying, and the script was dull. And his wife put in one of the worst performances I’ve seen.

Yeah that was decent. Haven’t seen the first two.
That still leaves 15 shit movies, I’m sticking with my sweeping generalisation.

TBF, the Academy didn't like the movie, just the performance. People I know who have seen it say that's pretty average but Fraser is great in it. I haven't seen it so can't comment.
