all the talk about Oscar candidates, let's get back to those the academy deems unworthy, because they don't address racial injustice. Three recommendations from me:
How about Upgrade (2018), it was a surprisingly fun little movie, even for people who don't really enjoy action movies (I don't - most of the time). Really neat camera work in the action scenes.
Barbarian had some of the most exciting 45 beginning minutes to a movie in a while -and then I was laughing my ass off (the measuring tape scene), and then it became a bit bland. Still, well worth a watch for the first half of it. Just unfortunate for the 2nd half.
I also liked The Worst Person in the World, a scandinavian movie about a woman and her complicated love life. Sounds gay (in a heterosexual way), but I enjoyed it a lot. Got weird, too.

Got a 5/5 review from blu-ray.com the other day, so will definitely check it out.

Just went through the list
1920-1999
Watched 502000-2009
Watched 72010-2019
Watched 52020-2023
Watched 1Best decade IMHO
1970-1979Patton
The French Connection
The Godfather
The Sting
The Godfather Part II
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Rocky
Annie Hall
The Deer Hunter
Kramer vs. KramerCouldn't agree more. I've seen them all bar KvK as I didn't like the subject matter and found Meryl Streep very annoying - or at least she played very annoying people convincingly.
In fact apart from Patton, I've seen them all multiple times and will watch them all again no doubt.

@MiketheSnow Yeah, when I was scanning the winners the 1970s stood out by far.
I've only seen a few of the pre-1970s movies but one of those is the original All Quiet on the Western Front.

@MiketheSnow
If you look at 1969-1978 you replace Kramer v Kramer with Midnight CowboyThat's quite the ten-year run.
Fucking 1980 - Ordinary People won ahead of Raging Bull, The Elephant Man, Coal Miner's Daughter and Tess

Just what people were screaming out for. A Willy Wonka origin film. Ffs

I see Hugh Grant is playing an oompa. Are we not allowed to cast dwarfs in the role any more?

I wish I hadn't seen Crash.
The Cronenberg one?
No, the one that won the Best Picture Oscar in the 2000s.

Kramer vs. KramerLooking at the list, from memory I've watched 48. Most of them from 1970
onwards.1970-1979: 7
1980-1989: 5, possibly 6.
1990-1999: 9, possibly all of them. Can't recall watching Dances with Wolves completely.
2000-2009: 8.
2010-2019: 7.
2020-2023: 0

2000 - 2023: I've seen every one aside from The Artist and Chicago. I'll watch The Artist some day but likely will never watch Chicago as I don't like musical films (I like musicals in the theatre though).
1990-1999: Seen them all.
1980-1989: Seen them all except Out of Africa.
1970-1979: Seen them all.
1960s: Seen 7 of them.
1950s: Seen 4 of them.
1940s: Seen 1 Casablanca.

I'm concerned so many of you have seen Annie Hall.
That's the only 1970s movie I have never seen, and never will.
Give it a go
Itβs genuinely laugh out loud at times -

I found that one pretty forgettable, TBH.
