Hearing good things about Oppenheimer, although apparently too long. Sound of Freedom is another that keeps popping up, but depending on the source is either a gripping and powerful film about child trafficking or a RWNJ film. Who farking knows? Anyone seen it?

I’m hearing seriously mixed reviews about Oppenheimer. Will be interesting to see which one I agree with if I get round to seeing it.

OK, I'll admit to seeing Barbie with the family. Def not a kids movie, some decent adult jokes in there. Liked the 1st half better than the 2nd where it carried on a bit, but overall worth seeing - Ryan Gosling is pretty funny in it, and it's hard to imagine any other actress than Margot playing Barbie.
3.5 pink rollerskates out of 5 (pink) flying cars
Someone said it was this generations Blazing Saddles. that’s a massive call. Thoughts @voodoo ?

Watched an old one and a new one of the weekend
Old
Good romp, great over the top performances from Hopkins and Kingsley
3.5 Baby Drivers out of 5 Drives
New
Really good action flick
3.5 The Towns out of 5 Heats

Sound of Freedom
I've heard it's boring. I was hoping for an absolutely bonkers Q-Anon movie.

Nah. Too much of an attempt at serious messaging in the 2nd half - was clumsy and too in-your-face for my liking. The first half was way lighter and funnier

Is there any males that aren't useless and/or dickheads in it?

Well (main) Ken was f*cken awesome for a brief period until he wasn't - so sort of? Will F's character stayed solid enough.
But yeah, mostly no

I saw Oppenheimer this afternoon and thought it was great. But, I know a lot about the story as I've read some books on Oppenheimer, so knew who the majority of the characters were, and it is very very long. It's essentially 3 movies in one I'd say. It's top tier Nolan for me. And for @Kruse it has tits, and pretty famous ones too (not Emily Blunt though).
I saw Barbie as well and liked thought it was really funny. Thin skinned males will likely be offended by it, but if not think skinned then it's a good watch. It's probably this generation's Blazing Saddles for women but not for men. The session I went to was about 60/40 women and 90% of them were decked out in pink. It seems to be very much an event movie for groups of women.
Both films have really good and deep casts. Well known actors pop up in small roles.

I think one of the main points of the movie is that while the Kens (and Alan?) are useless within the toy line that they actually have more agency than that - which is the Ken storyline, and spoiler if you don't want to know more of the plot:
SPOILER NOT WORKING, DON"T READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED
[mod edit]It’s working, just needs to be in it’s own line[/edit]by the end they do and the Barbie's acknowledge they have taken the Ken's for granted -
How can a film based on the Barbie Toy in any way resemble Blazing Saddles? The comments to the Sheriff and "No Irish" scenes could never have any equivalent in a modern day film. Maybe the baked bean scene?

Flight to States watched Cocaine Bear and Bank of Dave. CB an enjoyable splatter movie and quite funny (even the wife liked it and it’s usually not her type of thing). BoD a feel good Brit film based on a true story of a guy (played by Rory Kinnear) in the north who challenges the establishment by trying to set up his own bank to help his local community.

Recently watched Titane, and I wasn't impressed. It certainly was a weird one, evoking Cronenberg's Crash but a lot weirder. I usually like weird films and I love French films, but this one didn't click with me. I can see the attraction, though.
It's about a chick who bangs a car (yes), kills people and disguises herself as a boy, who was missing for 10 years (yes). Oh, and the carbang has made her pregnant, so she has motor oil spilling from her privates and there's something metal growing inside her belly (yes).
And the Swedish A Man Called Ove which they've remade with Tom Hanks (A Man Called Otto), it was a sweet little film where you get what you expect and it made my heart all warm and fuzzy for 100 minutes.

Gardians of the Galaxy 3
Good romp through space, like most, still a bit long, but was good learning Rockets back story, plenty of good one liners and as always, great tunes!
3.5 Otters out of 5 joob joobs

Saw this at the cinema. That opening sequence is astonishing. I remember feeling almost in shock after the film was over. Had never really seen that level of graphic and realistic violence in a legit film before. Only issue was the ending. Got too Hollywood unfortunately. But otherwise one of my favourite films.

I agree. That opening scene on the beach was absolute white knuckle stuff. It pulled no punches and felt so real, like you were there

Spielberg went on with it in Band of Brothers. As companion pieces I'm not sure you will find finer work on WWII
Then had a slight dip with The Pacific, hopefully the new one about the bombers is up to BoB standard.
