I rewatched it again recently, like SPR (and BoB) so many of the supporting cast have become much bigger names since then or they're familiar faces from lots of TV shows. There was the Dad from Modern Family, Jamie Lannister, Tom Hardy, Jeremy Piven, the Welsh guy who played Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, the guy from Hannibal TV series, the guy who played Tig in Sons of Anarchy, the Dad from Cougar Town etc.

Also character actors like Jason Isaacs, William Fichtner and Sam Shepard.

Eric Bana says hold my beer

Edit: oops, lazy reading, Bovidae mentioned him earlier

Also, to be a pedant I did say supporting cast - I reckon Bana was one of the co-leads with Hartnett. 😉

Touche. Bloody great film, anytime it happens to be on I'm drawn in

    You don't remember this scene?

I liked Barry Pepper's character as the sniper. There were heaps of well-known actors with minor roles in this movie.

Yeah he was great. Tom Sizemore as sarge was probably the best though. Pity these guys followed it up with a monumental amount of shite.

Ted Danson and Bryan Cranston are also in the film.

I think I mentioned it in the RIP thread but Tom Sizemore has been in THREE films I would consider masterpieces. This obviously but also Heat and True Romance

Natural Born Killers and Black Hawk Down are great as well. I think he ended up doing porno films.

    Don't forget Reservoir Dogs

No you pack of dingbats, the equally if not cooler Michael Madsen was in it !

I bet those two did pretty much ALL the coke in Hollywood back in the day !

Mind you to be fair the first time I saw Heat I’d had a few beers ( and still being in my late teens I was a bit of a lightweight ) and coulda sworn Michael Madsen was in it 😉

( no easily accessible internet available in 95/96 to check things immediately after a movie of course….)

Speaking of Michael Madsen ( yes, he definitely was in Reservoir Dogs ) it’s a damn shame the prequel involving him in Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction never happened in the mid 90s. I have a feeling that would have been all sorts of awesome.

Both those guys have unfortunately been in an ungodly number of shit films. Madsen must be close to cracking a century of films, if not roared past it.

@Rancid-Schnitzel been discussed here before, but I think Eric Roberts must take the prize for the busiest dude in HOllywood?

Looks like he has been involved in 18 movies or series in 2023 already, and looks like 39 in 2022....

Oh he’s been in some absolute turkeys, no doubt about it but his presence alone can drag a film out of the mire in some cases.

I suppose some of them would only pay a few grand ? Small independent types ?

He was memorable and awesome in every Tarantino flick he did, good in Species too once I stopped looking at Natasha Henstridges tits

Travolta was a genuine A lister at one stage which Madsen never has been ( this is not a criticism ) but has taken the Neeson/Willis/Cage/Butler ( if they want someone younger ) road to action shitter ville

Eric Roberts has had a very solid career. Has done well in every movie I’ve seen him in but he probably still feels stink when he compares bank balances with Julia who must be worth a fucken truckload from the massive ( but not necessarily good ) movies she’s been in.

Damn. He's actually been nominated for an Academy Award but that was approximately 8,000 films ago.

    Species is a masterpiece.

Yeah I’m gonna track it down for a rewatch.

Forrest bung eye Whittaker’s character is one of the most pointless and ridiculous in cinema history if I remember rightly.

Some sort of stupid empath or something…..from memory they all turn up where the Alien has been and find stuff smashed up and dead bodies everywhere and he comes up with the amazing conclusion that

    “Something bad happened here”

But yeah, Madsen is cool as fuck with some great lines, some cool sci fi action and of course this….

Ben Kingsley in that flick as well. 2 Academy Award winners hilariously enough. But who gives a shit. It's all about Natasha. Saw it at the cinema, rented it on video, recorded it when on TV, have it on DVD.

Actors striking right now. And as usual, a monumental lack of self awareness. Robots taking jobs? What a new concept!

I guess it begs the question: If AI becomes so realistic that we can't tell if it's real people, will we really care? I think yes, but if you can't tell the difference....

Like everything around AI, the issue for me isn't that they are using AI instead of humans. It's if we are not told.

Well that and stupidity. I once struggled to convince a Sales Director in Singapore that we didn't actually have hobbits in NZ!

    It’s a weird one.

I mean for the first scene in the new Indiana Jones movie (worth a watch for nostalgias sake by the way ) I truly believed Ford was in his early 40s as opposed to the 80 year old we saw later on.

The episode of Black Mirror with Salma Hayek covers the subject pretty well.
