I thought that as well. I wonder if VAR checked?

So Round of 16 starting on Saturday

    My winners bolded

    Switzerland v Spain
    Japan v Norway
    Netherlands v SA
    Sweden v USA
    England v Nigeria
    Australia v Denmark
    Colombia v Jamaica
    France v Morocco

From what I've seen, England has probably got the best draw to get to the final. Lots more soft teams in the bottom half.

I reckon Sweden vs the USA is the only one where you might go wrong, Mike - and that's a toss-up.

Japan are great to watch. You just knew that when Norway pushed forward in search of a goal there would be space on the counter-attack.

The save of the WC by Yamashita.

Really looking forward to attending the Japan v Sweden or USA quarter-final on Friday. A real clash of styles irrespective of which team makes it through today. Japan are a great watch - always full of movement and looking for space. Hasegawa is a lovely player, player of the year at Man City - and at 5 ft 2 and 47kg she's tiny.

Spain can demolish teams although they still look shaky at the back. Bonmati shows how to finish - so cool switching feet and picking a spot.

Rodman has looked likely so far. The US look a different team. Far more accurate and looking more likely to score. As I type Sweden almost got on goal on the counter

US well on top. It feels like only a matter of time before they score

    Yanks look better.

Might be one of "those" games where the better team gets held out.

    Can only hope ...

That's football right? Possession doesn't always translate into goals

Sweden will be hoping for more corners and dead ball opportunities. I don't see them scoring in open play.
