Probably hasn’t been this stiff since he went to the movies back in 91

Awesome character actor. Brilliant at ‘those’ kind of nasty bad guys.
As well as being blown to bits in Breaking Bad he got on Tony Montanas bad side too.
RIP
Off topic. I just realised Scarface is FORTY years old ! Looks like I’ve found another classic to watch with the boys !

@Catogrande He hit a massive slump after To Live and Die in LA, but in his late career he made Bug and Killer Joe, which were both excellent, especially the later.
Cruising is a great movie.

@Catogrande My cousin was at a gig earlier this year, and the main guy from Wang Chung was there supporting his GF who played in my cousin's band. Wang Chung did the soundtrack for To Live and Die in LA, and that guy told my cousin that he had a great time hanging out with Friedkin during the production - said he was a real artist, and a very cool guy to collaborate with

@Catogrande Also, Robbie Muller was the cinematographer, and he was a good as anyone. Euro meets LA, meets Michael Mann - Heaven.
-
To Live and Die in LA was Robbie Muller doing Michael Mann Miami Vice, but with the chemical sunset haze of 1984 LA. A real artist has been lost.
He did all the Wim Wenders (before he sucked), Jim Jarmusch movies, Saint Jack in Singapore, Barfly for Schroeder, and Repo Man (such a good movie). True genius

I'm just working my way thru the classic 1980's thrillers and he comes up a lot as both a filmmaker and influencer.

To Live in Die in LA is a great movie, was one of the big video store movies of the 80s, the copy of it at my store was rough from being watched so much.
I don't think I've ever seen The Exorcist in full but have definitely watched parts of, but I'm not a horror fan, and Mark Kermode pumps it so hard it will never live up to the hype for me so I doubt I'll ever watch it fully.
For some reason I recently rewatched The Rules of Engagement, which is a later Friedkin film, but it's pretty average, not bad, but that's about it.
