In addition to the Magpies and Tui games, I've been able to find info about the following (preseason) games on Saturday 5 August 2023:

    Hawke's Bay Men's Development v Poverty Bay - Tremain Field, Napier - 1.00pm

King Country Trailblazers v Hawke's Bay Women's Development - Owen Delany Park, Taupō - 2.30pm

Central Hawke's Bay Representative Rugby v Northern Whanganui (?) - Onga Tiko, Tikokino - 2.00pm

And this tournament (including Hawke's Bay Māori and Wairoa Sub-Union):

@Number-10 Do you know whether our U19s are playing this weekend? The U16s start early September; I assume the U18s start after the National Top 4?

Pretty average officiating in the Tui game, and the commentating is even worse. If you'd only listen to the commentators, you'd expect Wellington to be miles ahead, because they're so good at everything. Instead, the Tui lead, despite some questionable decisions from the ref.

That was a very satifying end to the game! A bonus point win for the Tui and at the same time denying Wellington a losing bonus point.

If you had to believe the commentators, Wellington were doing everything right and were stronger in this and that, but in the end the Tui just clearly showed they were the better team, both collectively and in many cases also individually.

Great to see Teilah Ferguson score a hat-trick.

        FT: Wellington 22 - 33 Tui

Also strange decisions by the Wellington captain to go for a scrum right in front of their own posts, while they could have gone for a line-out. Ferguson scored the first time and then later Wellington does the same thing again. Weird.

Hawke's Bay girl Harmony Kautai scored for Wellington. It's a pity she's no longer playing for us; she's such a strong, big winger.

@Stargazer Turning out to be fantastic weekend (Napier BHS result apart) for HB rugby followers after that semi-trouncing the Tui have just handed out to the Wellington side on their own ground. Sorry unable to give you the final score as flatmate had control of the remote and he changed channels with about a minute to go in disgust at the obvious apparent outcome but can bask in the glory that his mob did not even get a close loss bonus point! :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The other rep rugby resutls of 5 August:

              Hawke's Bay Development 77 - 17 Poverty Bay
King Country Trailblazers 36 - 31 Hawke's Bay Women Development
Central HB Rep Rugby 69 - 0 Northern Whanganui Sub-Union (CHB retain the Bebbington Shield)

The Te Matau a Maui Hawke's Bay Māori team has won the Te Tini tournament.
They beat Wairoa Sub-Union in the Final.

This is from the pay-walled article in the HBT:

A year and a half of resurrecting Hawke’s Bay Māori representative rugby bore its greatest prize to date when Te Matau a Māui beat Wairoa 33-14 in the final of the Te Tini a Māui regional tournament on Saturday at Elwood Park, Hastings.

Hawke’s Bay have at times been absent from the competition, unable to fill a team, but after playing the tournament in Wellington last year, the team was invited to stage the 2023 event, their winning of the Hikaia Amohia trophy being their first since 2007.

The tournament drew six teams, from Wellington representatives Te Ūpoko o te Ika to Poverty Bay representatives Tūranganui a Kiwa, with Taranaki and Whanganui unable to take part and the Wellington team impacted by the selection of a Wellington Māori team to play national Heartland Championship side Horowhenua-Kāpiti.

Wairoa, preparing to defend northern Hawke’s Bay, Gisborne and East Coast sub-unions challenge trophy the Barry Cup against Poverty Bay side Ngātapa in Wairoa next Saturday, were invited into the tournament and surprised with a 15-14 win over Te Ūpoko o te Ika after being down 14-0, and then beat Manawatū Māori 27-14 after being down 14-5 to win their pool.

Te Matau a Māui won their pool with a 54-0 win over Horowhenua-Kāpiti and a 14-7 win over Tūranganui a Kiwi.

Having beaten Wairoa 26-19 in their hometown seven days earlier, Te Matau a Māui expected another tough challenge, but led 21-0 at halftime with tries to Brayden Cunningham, Eli Rore and Tawhiri Gifford-Kara, each converted by Jayden Falcon.

But as they had earlier in the day, Wairoa again sprung a comeback with tries to Kyoni Te Amo and Jeffery Ismail, each converted by Phagen Winiata, to make it 21-14 midway during the second half.

While Wairoa dominated territory and possession for much of that half, Te Matau a Māui sealed the game with two late tries, to Hemi Waerea and Luke Russell, to claim the tournament’s Hikaia Amohia Trophy, thought to have been last won by a Hawke’s Bay side in 2007.

The playoff for third and fourth place went to a second five minutes of extra time before a 40-metre penalty gave Manawatū a 22-19 golden point victory.

Tui team to take on Canterbury. Some important players aren't available for some reason: Kahlia Awa still injured, but also no Ashley Palu and Kathleen Brown. Hopefully the Tui can keep the margin small; I can't see them win this game.

Saturday 12 August 2023, 2.05pm at Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park.

                  • Turanga Wāhine v Hawke's Bay Women Development - 1.00pm at Lambton Square, Wairoa

@Stargazer Hopefully the Development Team has a game in Napier as I am unable to make it out to the Hastings venue for the Tui game so I await news on their fixture, if any, with anticipation.
Just a gentle reminder that your picks for the HB Tipping Team will need to be done before 1905hrs tonight. The same goes for you @kiwimatrix!
We got off to an excellent start last week giving the Counties-Waikato mob a decent blood nose in our thumping 57 - 48 win but we need to be on our game this week against the usually high performing Wellington mob, especially after they got dumped by Harbour-Auckland. Thankfully life member @Paj is back but we need all members to tip each week to give us the best chance on continuing on our unbeaten run. You don't need to adhere to the HB 17+ rule this week!

@Higgins No games in Napier, this weekend. I've checked that. I've seen the fixtures of most other North Island development teams as well. I think the competition in the Northern Region starts this weekend, so that rules them out, unless one team has the bye. We don't seem to have a proper comp at Central Region level.

Thanks for the reminder. Totally forgot to get my picks in. Will do it now.

This explains why Kathleen Brown and Ashley Palu aren't playing for the Tui. Weird that the decision of the judiciairy wasn't known yet on the Friday morning after a Sunday match.

Two key forwards had to be left out, in No. 8 Kathleen Brown, with an automatic stand-down after a head injury assessment, and Ashley Palu, who was awaiting the outcome of a citing for an alleged high tackle in the match against Wellington.

It's also Gemma Woods' 70th game. That's a lot in the women's game.

@Stargazer The Tui coach was on Ross Holden's Saturday Sports Show on News Talk ZB this morning and said my Number 26 got three weeks for a high tackle (something that I, naturally, did not notice). Think the coach said the automatic stand down was for a minimum of 12 days but it could of course be much longer than that depending on her HIA follow up test results.

Holy crap but it got down to -1.5 degrees overnight in Napier so you can just imagine how much colder it must have been in Hastings where the game is being played. Thankfully it has warmed up to about 8 degrees when I last looked about an hour or so ago. Just as well the schoolkids don't play barefoot in the heavy frost that was still out there at 9.00am anymore!

@Higgins Good thing you didn't go to the Tui game. They were absolutely massacred by Canterbury. A 14 - 84 loss, two failed HIAs and another player with probably a season-ending injury. That's a lot to take for such a small squad. I hope they have enough players to fill those spots.

3 of the 4 results of this weekend's games:

                                  • Central HB Representative team 28 - 26 Hawke's Bay Māori

                                  • Wairoa Sub-union 125 - 0 Ngātapa

                                  • Turanga Whāhine (Poverty Bay) 27 - 0 Hawke's Bay Women Development

                                  I couldn't find the result of the Wairarapa-Bush Barbarians v Hawke's Bay U19 game.

Almost time to get your tips done for this week @Paj and @stargazer . We snuck in against Wellington last week and are up against Northland who can be up and down form wise and generally reserve their up weeks for when they tip against us so we will need to be up near top form just in case and to keep momentum going for next week's clash against the pesky Bush mob who somehow always manage to tip us up! Tipping cut off this week is 7.05pm tonight and with the Magpies track record we are again not enforcing the HB17+ rule for obvious reasons! Good luck with your tips

Earlier this week, a Hawke's Bay U16 girls team was named. Quite a few Fomai's, both players and coaches. 🙂 They're playing their first game (of two), tomorrow. I'll post a list of rep games later.

@Stargazer Are the Bs still playing Taranaki B at Park Island tomorrow? Hopefully it will be going ahead not clashing time wise with NBHS v PNBHS.

These are the games that I've been able to find. @Number-10 no doubt will be able to tell us whether there are more games:

                                          Saturday 19 August 2023

                                          • Hawke's Bay Development (men) v Taranaki Development - 12.00pm at Tremain Field
                                          • Hawke's Bay U16 girls v Manawatū U16 girls - 12.30pm at Tareha Rec
                                          • Manawatū Māori v Central Hawke's Bay Representative Rugby - 1.00pm at CET Arena (field 4)

There was a game scheduled between Hawke's Bay Māori and HB Samoa, but that game has been cancelled.

                                          Sunday 20 August 2023

                                          • Wairoa Rugby Sub-Union v Matakaoa - 1.30pm at Lambton Square, Wairoa

And obviously the Tui game v BOP in Whakatane at 12.05pm and the Magpies game v Otago at McLean Park at 2.05pm.
