Succession
Does the second season get any better ? I gave it a real chance in the first season and it’s a definite slow burner. Brian Cox is sensational but all the kids are just various degrees of really unlikable which doesn’t help ( ok, the oldest one is ok )
People raved about this show, how come I’m not digging it ?

I like Succession but don't think it lives up to how hyped it is. Maybe our expectations were too high?

Yeah that could be it. Maybe not enough stuff actually happens ? Not quite sure.
Would have probably given up if not for Cox, he carries the whole thing so well.

I can't remember Season 1 exactly - but I'm fairly sure it's fairly consistent across the seasons. If anything - S1 might have tried too hard, with too much stuff too quickly, and later seasons felt a bit more confident in a "slower burn"?
Anyway - if you didn't dig 1 season, you're probably not going to enjoy the rest. Shrug, say "Ah, not for me", move on.
Me - I really enjoyed the whole thing.
Might even re-watch it one day. -

I enjoyed S1 of Industry as a show better as I didn't really know anything about it.
S2 was awful though.

How did I miss this first time around?
Three episodes in
Superb
First ep put me off...absolutely glacial...everything from storyline, dialogue and even when characters walked, so fucking slow
I looked it up to see if I could find it on an Oz streamer, no dice, then I saw that it's made by Nicolas Winding Refn so am not worried I can't get it now. He made Drive and then disappeared up his own his arse.
If you liked Drive, Twin Peaks, Chinatown, and Mullholland Drive then you'll dig this
Any of those get you twitching then avoid like the plague
I like Drive and Twin Peaks, have blocked the rapist movie from my brain, and hate Mullholland Drive so looks like it's avoid like the plague.
I am looking forward to Fisk though - have you watched the Oz Utopia?
No
But on my list now
Thanks

@Nepia If it is, I'll wait to see what others think. It would be a considerable departure from what I found compelling on this series. If they can do it with good writing, fantastic...
Thought Hijack one of the best things I've seen for a while. Good writing acting and a great plot.
Always had a sneaking suspicion Sam Nelson was somehow involved. Was pretty well telegraphed when you think of it - he knew a bit too much of what was goingIn what way was he involved?
-

Can be read both ways, but clear to me and Mrs Meldrew in the last episode that he was the master-mind behind the hijack and playing the others (they were pretty shit hijackers as they let bullets behind in the toilets, etc).Plenty of pointers along the way - e.g. it was Sam Nelson who asked the lady on the airline counter to allow Alec, who had brought a weapon on the plane, to board the flight.

Not sure but you've made me think

Keeping options open for series 2 IMHO.

Yeah - I'm not sold. It was a theory I considered early on, but with the stuff which happened on the ground - nah.
I can see how they could make it work, if they really wanted to, in a S2... but it would be lazy plotting... IMHO. -
Upto ep 3 of Wolf, didn't see that twist coming (well there were things in this episode pointing there, but it was still a surpise)

His son pissed him off? It was all an elaborate scheme to avoid child-support payments in upcoming divorce? -
@MiketheSnow Aside from the 2nd episode (a real slog), I really enjoyed that miniseries. Looked pretty damn good.
-
Our immediate thought was that he'd organised the whole thing behind the scenes to short Kingdom airlines and the Insurance company. He almost seemed to be one step ahead and he made a living by negotiating/manipulating deals.
His son was targeted by the hit-men but they never killed him whereas they were pretty ruthless with other people. That seemed bit too pat for us.
Just our thinking - may be complete bollocks.
