@Bovidae assuming they havent just picked out the best bits for the trailers....looks great!
i am expecting some hate though, a show with two/three female protagonists, and because everything that supports their kick arse ness is in "Rebels" ....some out there that havent watched the cartoon will consider it tokenism

What effs me off is them ditching the EU, complaining they have to start from scratch then ripping off a classic EU storyline (Heir to an Empire) but replacing Luke with Ashoka. It all seems a little pointless because the First Order will soon appear and blow everything up. Oh yeah, and Palpatine will come back with his fleet of star destroyers on ice
. I wish they'd just bite the bullet and retcon that shit. Most people won't care and it will allow them much more scope for progressing the timeline.
The biggest shame for me is Rogue Squadron being canned. I've always wanted to see a SW film from the POV of pilots like Wedge. Probably heaps of WW2 stuff they could use as well.

@Kiwiwomble Out of curiosity I did watch the first couple of episodes of Rebels a while back so I am familiar with those other female characters but nothing more than that. I don't have any preconceived ideas or expectations about the SW shows for that reason.
-
@Bovidae and you know some wont care, a character is a character and they can just watch and enjoy...or critique if the production (boba fett) or writing or something isn;t good...but others out there will only see so many females on screen as trying to make a point

I've just watched the first two episodes of Ahsoka. A good start.
Watching the suggested episodes of the different animated series certainly helped with the backstories of the main characters.
I’ve watched 1.5 episodes. Life got in the way of the second but I’ll catch it soon.
Seems to be somewhere between Mando/BOBF and Andor in terms of the balance between drama/action.
I don’t know much about any of the characters and I fear I won’t care too much either, depends how the series goes.
My boys were frustratingly unhelpful in filling in the character backstories, they told me to watch the cartoons but I don’t have time for that shit.

Ashoka is pretty dull, I'm with The Drinker on this "...pretty much demands that you watch not one, but two, animated Star Wars shows just to understand what the fuck is happening..." And that is not happening with suck a dull, self-righteous main character.
I particularly hate the way that all cool (read-empowered female) characters fight like they are doing no-look passes. It is all about ridiculous moves without looking, cf Galadriel. Fuck off, even Luke and Darth and Legolas and everyone else actually had to try!

Yep
Outstanding nerd theory and a tough one to argue which makes my tenuous defence of all things SW even tougher.
One thing I like in all shows/movies I watch is things to be consistent “within their own universe” so to speak.
Snoke got cut in half. Died. Sweet as.
Darth Maul cut in half. Survives but perhaps I can put that down to the cauterising nature of the sabre and how fucken tough his race is ( clutching at straws )
Count Dooku gave Obi Wan and Anakin some glancing blows but part of that I put down to him not being fully embraced in the dark side and giving them a chance ( also worth noting he had cut Anakins hand off )
Obi Wan slices up Anakin ( just limbs, no vital organs ) and leaves him burning and he very barely survives. I can dig that.
But then we get to THIS shit ? ( it was a cool scene I’ll give it that )
No WAY does she survive this.

I always found the DM thing absolutely ridiculous. Very surprised Lucas signed off on that. You get run through with a lightsaber that has to be the end. It's an absolute pisstake now and anyone who claims otherwise is delusional.

Again, a tough race and the hatred fuelled by the dark side would be enough to keep him going. I accept that one.
Wannabe chicks on speeder bikes with silly coloured hair ? Fuck no.

Perhaps we should get the opinion of an imaginary physician from the imaginary universe with the imaginary physical-laws to weigh in.
And yes... I understand that "oh, that doesn't seem like it makes sense"... but also I get that "this is a series of made up stories (originally) aimed at children".
And... ah, actually... Fuck it. If you care that much... go for it. I kinda feel a little envious that somebody can give the smidgeon of a shit about anything like this. -
