@antipodean was the French defence offside by much? Was it visible at the ground (always difficult to judge on TV)?

@BerniesCorner the TV producers needed him to take Dupont out of his pocket . Dupont is a fantastic player, but he wasn’t the best 9 on the pitch last night (until Christie came on).

@gt12 in fairness, few expected the game plan they rolled out for Ireland in the QF in 2019. Then again, few expected the game plan they rolled out in the SF against England either

@Nevorian fatigue clouds decision making perhaps? Dupont was on until 76th minute, so it is an AB tactic thing.

Again, probably an overhang from when ABs had “closers” worthy of the name. Comes back to cutting your cloth according to the material you have at your disposal.

Could have been a pre determined sub of our most important player in a meaningless fixture when it comes to the RWC? I'd be surprised if we are subbing Smith in the finals, though I could be wrong.
