RWC Week 5: All Blacks v Uruguay

I’m far more worried about our forward play than our 15-10 combo. I’m very doubtful our front 8 have three big games in them against the likes of Ireland and SA.
Sadly yeah, you are probably on the money,
I’m guessing If or when we get put out, the main talking point will be around how we got outplayed up front

I suspect it will also have something to do with BB chip kicks.

so for those who couldn't watch the match and were foolishly following this thread for the score and overall comments, did any loosies play well? Did EB do anything well?
-
Lomax is a massive loss and probably the one prop we couldn't afford to lose. Who is the next TH in line? Jager? If Lomax is a chance for a potential semi, then I would rather they replace Havili with a TH. I think we have enough midfield cover.
@akan004 Tevita Mafileo is better than Jager. Mafileo can play both sides aswell.
-
Lomax injury sounds medial, does not look good.

Jermaine Ainsley started both games for ABs XV, this year, that was after Oli Jager withdrew from the squad.
Ainsley has been pretty average during the NPC.The reserve TH's were Rakete-Stones (1st game) and Dyer (2nd).

playing against Ireland is good experience to have.. and won Highlanders Forward of the Year I believe! To think he could have ended up playing for the Wallabies...

Up to minute 53 - McKenzie just made it 43-0.
Uruguay's defence has been good but the fatigue is chiming in just as the ABs start to click.
ABs reminded me of a park footy side with talented players: nobody comes to training so the first half is like a warm up, then everyone remembers how to rugby and they finish strong.
Nice analogy but it ignores
If not for a couple of fine line errors we put on early points
And
How well Uruguay started the game. They played with an intensity they were never going to be able to keep up. Threw numbers at the ruck on both sides of the ball, made their tackles and were able to keep possession for long periods.
It emptied their tank though and that's where we took over.@mariner4life said in RWC Week 5: All Blacks v Uruguay:

Yeah, but you didn't, right?
Sliding doors of course. Score that first try and it could have been 100. Or Uruguay could have had 2 tries and you could have stopped at 66.

EDIT: To support my blather somewhat further - a lot of the Uruguay starting lineup started their pool games, so they had better cohesion to start. ABs made changes and did not have the same level of cohesion.

He was smart enough to realize that 3 times was enough.

Yes, I feel for you Wallabies fans, I do, really. By the way, I know of an international coach coming off a contract, perhaps Australia could nab him? He's really strong on learnings.

@Stargazer Tevita was the one called into the AB squad though which is why he didn't play in the XV games. I assume it will either be Moody or Mafileo from those props left in NZ.

@Canes4life it’d probably be Angus. He was injured until the NPC

@Duluth could be, how's his form?

Nooohh, please no!

He's been good.. Auckland scrum has generally been strong. He's been used a lot from the bench as Auckland has wanted to get game time into some younger props and finish with experience
I presume it'll be him because you'd want someone who's familiar with the setup and can slot straight in if there's another injury
-
LF can't be in the starting team. On defence he turns slower than the QE2 and then gets outpaced by Vaa'i on the chase back.

He will be just like Deans and Rennie: hamstrung by an incompetent administration and given players who aren't up to it.
Nothing to worry about.

@Duluth either that or they call up Moody and use Ofa as a tight-head only.
