I don't want the ABs to be desperate. That is when Foster's ABs are at their bumbling worst.

Ok, not desperate then. Highly motivated to prove that they are a better side after being written off all week.

If they can't get up for this one... How many times have we said this about the Fozz blacks only to see them falter? I dare them to prove us wrong šŸ™

We can talk about Foz getting them up for this, but if they come out flat that’s a massive indictment on the senior players. This may not be the 2015 crop talent-wise, but there’s a shit-ton of experience in this side. No excuses.

@Billy-Tell I'm putting money on there being one yellow at least. Remember the test after Soldier Field.

Thinking back to the Irish series:

                  • ABs cleaned up in test 1 after Ireland started fast.

                  • AB indiscipline was horrendous in the first half of test 2 with 2 yellow cards and a red for Ta'avao. It was 10-7 at half time. Playing a full 40 mins at this level a man down is not easy. Was similar in some ways to what happened in the second Lions test when SBW got his red (albeit ABs in Lions test 2 were more impressive playing off 9) and from then on the Irish had momentum.

                  • Test 3 was closer than many remember. This after Ireland led 22-3 at half time. ABs brought it back to 25-22 whilst Porter had his yellow card and had all the momentum. Porter got away with what would now be a clear red. It isn't that much of a stretch to say that if was a red the ABs would probably have prevailed.

Since the test series, Ireland have grown as a team, have a settled coaching team and have an offensive patterns and defensive solidity that are to be admired. The ABs have sacked their assistants and have been trying to find their playing identity, especially up front.

This weekend promises to be a clash of styles in some ways, but in one it will be the same. The forwards will determine who will win, with the backs deciding by how much šŸ™‚

Most important decision of the week...who do you want from this list for the game?

                    2becbf29-39ed-42e7-8fed-4c744c6eef4b-image.png

                    Cronan, Foley, Jonker or Whitehouse.

Does the TMO normally get picked in line with the ref's nationality?

So, if Cronan is picked, does that mean the ref is likely to be Gardner?

If Foley, does that mean Wayne Barnes or Luke Pearce?

If Jonker, does that mean Jaco Peyper?

Ben Whitehouse doesn't have any Welsh mates, so it will probably be Nika Amushakeli as ref.

@voodoo yeah wont be, or shouldnt be any lacking of motivation anywhere in this squad:

For many, this could be thier last ever game in black, for Foz it could be his last match in charge.

If that doesnt get them up for it...

                              @voodoo

I often think we try to be too clinical in certain games and don’t use the emotion of the occasion to feed off.

South Africa are the side that are able to lift the most through emotional energy imo.

We will both need to lift ourselves more than normal as Sa will have a hugely partisan Home crowd to try to silence. The French are in party mode and have never seen them so committed to supporting their team - it’s been great tbh.

We will clearly have a large Irish section of the crowd to contend with which will make it feel like a proper away game for us.

AB teams of old feed off going into hostile grounds and silencing the crowd with their play.

I want stunned silence in the crowd after 20 minutes.

The international careers of many ABs are on the line on Saturday
Lose and for many it will be their last game in black.
The legacy of the ABs is being eroded and they have the opportunity to stop that.
They have allowed this Irish team to embarrass them at home.

I want unseen levels of frothing from this aB side that we saw against England in ā€˜95 where we will stop at nothing to smash them and send them home

Honestly I think DMAC should be fullback.

I don’t mind the occasional chip kick. As long as it is used sparingly as part of a varied attach to keep Ireland on the back foot and guessing what we will come up with next.

If we see to many it is because we are running out of ideas asnd he simply cannot help himself from doing them as this is his only way he can make something happen.

Apparently, we don't do well as under dogs

Be afraid, All Blacks fans – New Zealand are not favoured to win a game for the first time in their Rugby World Cup history.

And starting a game as rare underdogs has not worked well for the three-time Cup winners – on the four occasions their opponents have been favoured to win, New Zealand have lost.

The All Blacks have only been underdogs in four of their 359 games since the NZ TAB first offered sports betting odds in 1996 – all of them away to the Springboks in South Africa.

@Machpants not sure TAB odds setting for the ABs are a true gauge...

So the only game we were underdogs and won was SA last year?

We can talk about Foz getting them up for this, but if they come out flat that’s a massive indictment on the senior players. This may not be the 2015 crop talent-wise, but there’s a shit-ton of experience in this side. No excuses.

@voodoo Razor / Crusaders, Farrell / Ireland would have something to say about that.

Nope, TAB have had abs under dogs 5 times, 4 times away versus SA and all for lost. 5th time is this game
