@mariner4life he must do alright at the roulette table though, always betting against black!

He's normally very gushy about the ABs, and also correct in this point. He's also correct that the level of game in NH club rugby is much more intense than SR. If the Puma throw everything at the ABs, and get ahead whilst messing up/frustrating them, these ABs are more than likely to 'freeze'. He also says that England have a better chance of an upset, so doesn't actually think Arg are in with a realistic chance.

On Christie - when they say he has an edge on defense, I assume they mean his ability to organise the defense around the fringes, like what Smith was doing against Ireland. They probably had some concerns there with Roigard being so young and the likelyhood of us being attacked in those channels, so went for a more experienced head. The plan is to play Smith for 80 though, unless the game this weekend gets beyond doubt.

I think your first bit is right - but not the bit quoted.

The last game was the first since the 2015 semifinal than AS has started and not been subbed.

They usually pull him around 60-65 minutes.

@Kiwiwomble I'll be very surprised. AS got a 20 minute rest around halftime so was able to play the last 30 minutes of the last game.

It was pretty noticeable vs the Boks earlier this season that they started getting to Aaron just before he got subbed.

While on the topic, your logic on Christie's selection further above is also bit sketchy - what if Smith gets injured in the first minute? I don't think they'd want 79 minutes of their third choice halfback. 🙂

All Blacks World Cup Semi Final day. That will always make me think of this.

Rest well, Jonah, and thank you.

Why are they sticking with Christie? It seems odd.

    Roigard screwing the crew?

Anybody who wants to know why they aren't playing Roigard, go watch the game vs Uruguay with no pre-conceived bias. I am not saying I agree with the decision, but some of his distribution was a little untidy, and it has cost them.

They were absolutely planning on having him on the bench, it would be illogical to give him those two starts, plus the bench position against Italy (when the heat was on), if they were planning on Christie being on the bench. They would have given Christie a start vs Uruguay.

One of the most humbling days as an England rugby fan. We actually played quite well, but he destroyed us, it’s a weird feeling watching your team get taken apart and falling in love with one of the opposition players at the same time. Comfortably my favourite ever rugby player, from any nation.

@frugby did you see Smith against Ireland? Shocking start. Can't believe we picked him again.

@Dodge Almost everyone forgets how good that 1995 England team were. They had an absolute superb forward pack.

Jack Rowell’s England won 22 out of 29 games. They won the 1995 Five Nations at an absolute canter.

1995 Five Nations Championship - Wikipedia

Laurie Mains spotted a defence weakness in the England back three which Jonah Lomu dazzlingly exposed.

Supposed to rain on Saturday night. I expect Argentina to commit heavily to the breakdown and try to turn the game into an arm wrestle. ABs by 12.

I also have the ABs by 12…….after 15 minutes!

Up 25 at the half, and 30+ at FT (I’m allowing for a drop-off after we empty the bench)

@stodders What those tables might show is that it's been quite a late decision to back the young props on the bench - Williams especially played a lot less minutes than Ofa, which you wouldn't expect if they'd been building Tamaiti to play in the play-offs.

Similarly, it looks to me that they've made a late decision to revert back to Christie.

Don't let the Hawkes posters know, all that dry powder will be consumed before the game.
