RIP 2023

Must be hard as an actor to have basically peaked between 25 and 35, playing a character you pretty much defined. Typecast himself.
The personality type is addictive by nature: to roles, to awards, to an audience.
If you'd said to me "Hey Nick, you have to work for 10 years and will earn $1M a week by the end of it", I'd be dead keen.
Who wouldn't? I'd be like Hans Gruber, on a beach earning

Dumbledore is dead.
For the second time; Harris, and now Gambon
I suspect they are both just stuck at a BR station.

I guess I could have forced myself to lower my lofty standards. -

I'd be found dead in a jacuzzi at about age 54, and I can promise there'd be absolutely zero doubt about whether "substances" were involved.

this is awful.
In my London phase part 1, I was known as Chandler Bing amongst my group of friends as we had lots of crossovers. Diabolical with woman, always trying to crack the joke (and often not hitting the mark), and I did a job that absolutely none of my friends understood what it was (actually not far away from his). Oddly enough, the best route (NOT SIC) I had with woman was to play on this ... actually worked occasionally too!
So yeah, sad times, farewell to the person who acted out my kindred spirit.

I don't follow any celebrity stuff but he seems like he tried to be a good guy. Especially poignant bolded bit
âThe best thing about me is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says âWill you help me?â I will always say âYes, I know how to do that. I will do that for you, even if I canât always do it for myself.â So I do that, wherever I can. In groups, or one on one,â he wrote. âAnd I created the Perry House in Malibu, a sober-living facility for men ⌠When I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were listed far behind the things I did to try and help other people.â

Bit of a sad one this.
Flatting with ten other people ( not to mention boyfriends, girlfriends, mates etc constantly visiting ) we only had one TV. We got it on Friday and Saturday for Rugby, the girls got it for Friends and various other shit during the week. So naturally we sat through pretty much every episode.
Sounds like he had a bit of a tough time of it with the substance abuse. I remember one season he came back with a really puffy face after being pretty trim which surprised us all a bit.
RIP.

Raymond Siddalls died last weekend.
Not a name familiar to many but he basically saved the Auckland rail operation in the early 90's when politicians were ready to close it by firstly restructuring operations so they were more sustainable, then most crucially purchasing new diesel trains from Perth (for their scrap value) and lastly by pushing through a number of improvements that saw ridership increase from a low of 1 million passengers p.a. to over 20 million pre Covid. Without him we wouldn't have got Britomart (and the downtown regeneration it encouraged), the network electrification or CRL.
Interestingly Akl Transport onsold most of the Perth units to Mozambique where they still operate today.

Far out. By my count the 4th Bok who played in the WC final !
