Will Young is the man to play at 5 imo, but unfortuantely his coversion rate from 50s to 100s is shocking. He's a far better bet than Nicholls but really needs to start tonning up on a more regular basis if he is to catch the selectors attention.

Sure did.

This is what Taylor needs to get his average to 50 after the next one (1st Test v SA):

brackets figures = comparison he needed before the 1st Zim Test. A big reduction!

not dismissed = 154 (518)

Guptill strikes on lunch!

Well, not really - Ervine gets a terrible caught behind given that never looked out to me. Nonetheless we pick up two very handy wickets in the morning session, which was what we needed. Ideally at least three in the next session.

A little bit of payback as Reiffel missed the other lefty hitting the cover off it earlier....

Ish is having consistency problems but Santner gets some good drift and shape. Promising

the lbw before that was a shocker too, clearly heading down leg. bit disappointing as both he and ervine looked reasonably comfortable before getting triggered.

guppy clearly not happy with the calls to move him to 5, seems to be after the all-rounders spot instead. now has 3-11.

Good to get the win, but that umpiring was appalling. Poor old Zimbos couldn't buy a trick.

    Another dodgy lbw

Always been surprised the ICC doesn't provide technology for all it's top tier cricket to ensure a level competition. Perhaps surprised is the wrong word

Sodhis length inconsistency is a real worry. He's far too full today and I'd suggest he'd be a passenger against SA

Try to see footage of Kanes catch of Williams. A beauty

I didn't see much of Ish but that is disappointing as it looked like he was starting to bowl with a lot more consistency against Aus in their recent tour to NZ, albeit in the ODIs. Was he trying to give it a lot of flight? Perhaps the best tactic for him might be to start his spell bowling flat and then toss it up more once he's got some rhythm.

Well, you know, clearly 364 in two tests without being dismissed isn't good enough... Needs to try harder.

Great to get the win, but clearly Reiffel wanted to dash off and watch the Olympics, because bloody hell he gave some shockers. I mean we probably would have won, but nobody likes a victory where the runner up was obviously shafted on more than one occasion.

We got shafted a couple of times as well, in the first innings we had the most plum LBW you'll ever see turned down and the opener then ground out a hard fought 50.

I think it just shows the importance of DRS. People like to complain about it but none of those decisions would have stood if it were in place.

Last time I checked he got 11 wickets in the series? Thats almost the same as Zimbabwe combined.. I guess its all relative..

But yes, Taylor looked very impressive. He made Kane look like the 2nd best batsman in the team..

Yeah, they said on the broadcast that it was between Kane and Taylor but Kane's captaincy was the tie breaker. Was fair enough.

Job done boys, second tier team put in their place and a few averages improved along the way.

Anything less than 2-0 would have been a disappointment so in that regard the majority of the team did the job with aplomb.

There's a lot of excitement over KW and Taylor, rightly so but the fact is there are two others averaging over 40 in the team, a guy ( Guptill ) who is a better player than his record suggests ( I can only echo the sentiments of those who want him batting lower ) and a pretty handy pace attack. We also have a couple of spinners considerably better than the cellar dwelling efforts of Mark Craig. Is this enough to match SA in their own backyard ? I dunno but I cant wait to find out.
