@Stargazer Blues 9-10 combo was pretty poor in that 2nd game, in the 1st the Blues bench bought them back from 26-5 down at the break.

Chiefs pack got the better of the blues in both games.

Conditions were most difficult in the 2nd half of the Chiefs-Blues main game. Playing at the right end of the field was important to limit the impact of handling errors.

The Chiefs couldn't win their own lineout ball, while the Blues' hookers couldn't throw in straight.

The first game was entertaining. The Chiefs blew so many scoring chances in the 1st half, and it nearly came back to bite them. That really was a game of two halves or starters vs bench.

Joey Taumatiene had a strong game at no.8 for Chiefs Team Messam.

@Bovidae Fixtures is in the link, 1, 2 & 4 May. They play against Framesby (PE) and Diamantveld (Kimberley and host)
Te tournament is the braim child of late Reinard Lategan x principal at Paarl Gym and Diamantveld. As you can see all the top SA schools like Grey College, Paarl Gym, Boys High and Paul Roos participate. There will also be an English school.

@OomPB My comment was based on reading that article and the dates. I'm not sure how many of this year's St John's 1st XV are back, but some of their best players will have finished school this year.

@Bovidae yes the same rules for our schools. SA top schools have up to 25 teams from u14-18. Up to 6 u18 teams. So they always have systems in place to be strong at the top

I think that trip has been planned for a couple of years. An initial development squad was named at the end of last year and I think some of those boys played in the Waikato Schools 2nd Division this year. It might include older boys as well, I don't know. I remember one of the dads sharing a Facebook post about it.

A couple of boys who played juniors with my son at Te Rapa. They would be 16 turning 17, Year 12.

I'm not surprised by this as he missed some Super 8 games to play RL during the school year. What I am surprised about is his selection for the NZ Schools team if going to RL was on the cards.

Westlake came back from the dead to win their quarterfinal game vs Hartpury (UK).

Down 19-7 with 3 mins to go they managed to score a converted try then another a couple of mins after the whistle to tie it up 19-19. Kicked just missed but they go thru after scoring the first try.

Isaac Murray-McGregor had another great game scoring two of the tries. Kid has talent
