Well if they pick Harmon for even a single game as AB7 in the near future I'm going to go a full RancidS...

Aaron Goile also thinks that Reuben O’Neill will be one of the replacement TH props, but the interest will be in who is the other. An established prop to be 3rd in line or take a punt on a young player?

Sione Mafileo could be a option if he is getting fit.wouldnt surpise me if they had a replacement for profitt either. Oneil i would imagine will be there.
not really sold on Sa but wouldnt be surpised if he was picked.
floence or norris for loose forward
wings are going to be interesting could be after two? if they let malimali go.hopefully they dont take the waikato midgets.

I would see the selection of Sa as one for the future, similar to when Lord was first named in the squad. He'd be there to learn and develop. There is still room for a more experienced lock too.

I ássume these are the players to be replaced;retallick, mcwhannel, sowakula, cane, taavao, moli, gatland, ngane punivai and perhaps one more outside back assuming Trask replaces rivez reihana

My ideal replacements would be fiti sa, Tom Florence, Malachi wrampling tikoisolomone or one of the under 20 wingers and the taranaki fly half

@cliff The Chiefs squad this year had four 1st 5s so there is no need to replace both Gatland and Reihana with the return of Trask. Three is more than enough (DMac, Trask, Ioane). If Jacomb is only in the WTG, Ioane must be in the main squad.

@Nogusta All the young Chiefs props are LHs so it would make sense to look outside the region.

As to the wingers, will they take a chance on Melani Nanai? Leroy Carter would be focusing on sevens.

@Bovidae Interestingly Carter is not in this weekends NZ Sevens squad. Could be injured of course.

Heard that Carter is focusing on Sevens for 2024 for the Olympics then looking to join the Chiefs in 2025.

So 7 props with two newbies. Florence and Sititi are both selected.

Fuck me I'm stoked that Malachi made the team, and Tana Tuhakaraina in the WTG. Good looking team tbh

Yeah it's pretty interesting. Bumped into him earlier this year, he was coaching Tuakau/Onewhero 1st XV and the school team I coach was playing against them. Didn't realize it was him straight away. Lovely dude, his team went undefeated I'm pretty sure.

From the squad selected today, I've gone with the following for the Chiefs best 23. Is this a stronger or weaker team than last year? I'm going weaker because of the hole Rettalick, Weber and Cane will leave. Still a sound team though.

That backline, especially on a dry track is fire.

    Chiefs Top 23:

    1. A Ross
    2. S Taukei’aho
    3. G Dyer
    4. T Vaa’i
    5. J Lord
    6. S Finau
    7. K Boshier
    8. L Jacobsen
    9. C Ratima
    10. D McKenzie
    11. E Nanai-Seturo
    12. Q Tupaea
    13. A Leinert-Brown
    14. E Narawa
    15. S Stevenson
    16. T Thompson
    17. O Norris
    18. R O’Neill
    19. N Ah Koui
    20. T Florence
    21. X Roe
    22. J Ioane
    23. R Poihipi
