Oh yeah also The Covenant - enjoyed this a lot. Gyllenhaal was a good pick as the lead and I thought it trod the line between 'splosions and nuances of the situation in Afghanistan very well. So often we're shown the kind of complexity of the various tribes and sects, and how murky the whole situation really is.
The ending was a bit "Here comes the cavalry" but who doesn't love an AC-130 throwing ordnance?

is the tag line "children of fire" and "part 1" new?...maybe a good sign Netflix are happy to back sequels?
Not super new. They split it up a while ago, second one comes early next year. So less a sequel, more he filmed a shit ton of cool stuff and they want to release it all.
With a quick turnaround between releases, and alternative versions (R version, longer versions), this is exactly what streaming services should be doing, trying new ways to distribute stuff. Wish they would add back Directors commentaries as extras, they were always interesting back in the day.

@Kirwan cool, looking forward to this
i miss the days when we got multi film franchises yearly or 6 monthly like Potter or LotR...marvel over did it, even i as a big fan havent watched the lastest movies of series, and others like Avatar just left it too long

Step Brothers
In terms of dumb entertainment that’s actually really funny it’s tough to beat this.
Will Ferrall can be pretty hit or miss but he’s terrific in this and John C Reilly matches him every step of the way.
Not quite sure why this flick works but it does, genuine LOL moments.
Slightly disconcerting that I’m quite a bit older than these guys now considering I thought of them as middle aged when I first saw this.

Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Gothic-style drama/horror film with James Norton (Grantchester) and Amanda Seyfried. Surprisingly good and avoided the cliched twists and endings you normally get. Norton a bit of a revelation as one of the lead characters.

@MN5 I'd say it's their second best movie. Bettered by Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
I’ve never actually seen that.
WF is also outstanding in the other guys

After watching The Killer am I to assume that Fincher is a fan of The Smiths? Too much...
Yes.
Ridiculously so. At best I like one of their songs.
Also…..
His repetitive monologues got ridiculous. Some reasonably good tension, one of the best fight scenes in a movie for years……..and Fassbender was ruthless and cool but overall not the best flick I’ve seen -
