@Stargazer I’m really looking forward to see how Holland goes with the Canes next year

@mikey07 he’ll manage to pick Prinsep, JSav and Blackwell aswell.
-
A few wider squad members spotted in the below post that I’ve noticed include:
Sam Coles (Manawatu)
Vernon Bason (Manawatu)
Kyle Preston (Wellington)
Kemara Hauiti-Parapara (Wellington)
Konrad Newland (Hawkes Bay)Looks like TJ Perenara is hugging what looks like Chris Boyd. I wonder if he’s involved as an assistant.

@Canes4life christ can you imagine if we end up with Parapara for the Canes too. Good lord.

@Stargazer he was just announced as the Director of Rugby for Poneke so doubt he’s there as a player.

@foobaNZ for that to happen Roigard, Perenara, Judd and Vijoen would have to get injured first.

Reon Paul (BoP, midfielder) also training with the Canes.
Another Norths product.
-
PRS hitting 290kg
-
Sam Coles and Logan Wallace are two of the players that have been given National Development Contracts.
@Bovidae plenty of Manawatu players coming through. Shame we didn't snap up Nalaga who's gone to the Drua. He looked like a future star.
-
Tom Allen (Hawkes Bay) another newbie spotted on the Hurricanes mixer.

@Canes4life It wouldn't surprise me if he was offered a NDC.

Assistant Forwards: Bryn Evans@Canes4life normally the best coaches were either middle of the road players or not players at all, so on that basis, it's a good group!
(Not counting CJ as middle of the road - just the others).

He's the assistant coach responsible for the line-out and kick-off according to the official Hurricanes media release. I assume Mackintosh will retain his responsibility for the scrum.

I see now why the Hurricanes are doing the bare minimum in terms of promotion through their channels etc. They apparently had a loss of 1.3 million last year so they won't have the budget to pay for anyone half decent.
This result is part of the decision making around the Wellington Lions moving to Porirua, aswell as the Lions moving their training base back to Rugby League Park to save on costs.
This is also the reason the Hurricanes have decided to host one of their pre-season games at their training base in Upper Hutt.
Worrying times indeed.
