Where are you @booboo ?
We are in Byron right now, nothing threatening around here other than a few shirtless bogans
@mariner4life reckons infrastructure further north around Port is still fucked though
Hervey Bay. Just to the north of the storm on that radar image above.
Nothing to write home about for us. 40-50mm in few hours, only the first 10-15 minutes of any intensity (BOM IFD data suggests maybe 5 year for 15 minutes). Winds were stong but not concerning. Thunder and lightning less than very very frightening. Decent bog standard summer storm. Intensity had dropped as it headed north.
Dropped the temperature 10degs though. Which was good.
Yeah, Cairns and further north copped a shitload. They'll have a fair amount of restoration to do.

So fluffybunnies are looting the devastated homes in the GC hinterland.
Unfortunately, it's routine. Some folk don't empathise with others at all - just see the world as something waiting for them to rip off. Sociopaths.

happened here in the flooded homes too

There's a case for vigilantism in suck situations.
No cops around to help protect my house?
No cops around to stop me stuffing you into a woodchipper...Most excellent typo ...
Or predictive text based on the words he usually types?

Zoom in to the water park (currently full of mud).

So Kirraly has eventually been "named".
2nd Cyclone of the season.
Been threatening to cause all sorts of shit down our way.
Seems the authorities were quite worried (or maybe quite excited) it would head south and fuck us up over the weekend.
But seems, aside from wherever it hits the coast (Townsville as a 2 probably according to current predictions), gunner head inland and not do much

People are losing faith in the BOM as their modelling and predictions have been wildly out of touch recently.
It's not helped by fuckwits accusing them of being "woke" and pushing a climate change agenda.
But a lot of public messaging around extreme weather has been very poor this year. The predictions of Jasper being a huge deal when it was barely a wimper. The complete miss of the huge rain event that followed. The all over the shop modelling of this little cyclone that had track maps all over Qld. Even now the track map looks wrong as to meet their model it would have to suddenly have dramatic increase in speed.
Then we had the text message warning system that was breathlessly telling Cairns residents to evacuate and seek shelter 48 hours before the cyclone even hit. A cyclone that barely affected Cairns at all (rain event aside). And warnings about flooding? not so forthcoming.
