Jamal's having a great game but, fuck me, that's some ball to bowl Shafique (once he found his line)!

    ...and now Hazelwood has Masood.

The commentators often go on about unplayable balls and you think - Sachin or Brian or Viv or Don would have played that comfortably.

But that Starc one reminds me of Fred Trueman cleaning up some kid.

On one occasion, a Cambridge University batsman, having just been dismissed, acknowledged him with the condescending compliment: "That was a very good ball, Mr Trueman". Trueman replied: "Aye, wasted on thee".

It was going to get most!

    Oz need 130 to win.

Khawaja lbw for 0 - pretty rough decision, really - ball just brushing the off stump for an umpires call - but, I seem to have seen quite a few of those in the past few weeks.

    Davy's last test innings.

Dave and Marnus making no race of it.

    50 for Davy.

Luckily Marnus has been going so well that 100 is beyond DW! 🙂

Davey has retired with a test average lower than Mark Richardson. (44.59 vs 44.77).

    That makes me happy.

If ever I need convincing that statistics don’t alway tell the full story I think this is it.

Disclaimer: I actually really like Rigor as a broadcaster and admired him hugely as a test batsman.

I'm sure Mark would trade 0.18 per innings for a lousy 6000 or so runs extra ...

So Steve Smith suggested he could be the opener. Thoughts?

Since that Archer spell everyone bowls short at Smith when he comes in. That would likely stop.. or the opposition might waste the new ball

@Duluth gives them a way to get Cam Green back into the side.

Not going to happen imo,he is not technically set up as an opener.
His hands are too loose any movement early and he is a snick for the slips.

I can not see Australia moving him from the no.4 spot.

It should be Marcus Harris or Cameron Bancroft, but Bancroft is still tainted by sand paper gate but there are some who hid in the background and should have stood up in that saga.
If they don't bring in a new opener and promote with in which they might, as they are keen to get Cameron Green back in the X1 then my pick would be Travis Head promoted or a smokey could be Marnus who judges line and length well.

But they're quite happy to laud one of the ringleaders.
