Reckon Manzarek's keyboard was far more integral to the Doors sound than Morrison's 'genius' lyrics.
Was an easy way to impress a certain cadre of impressionable girls though - drop some Morrison quotes into the chat.
Jim was a cool frontman as I mentioned, as good as any in rock but yes his written word stuff was utter wank.

Took me right back to High School days kicking around with a bunch of “mates” who were smoking endless joints whilst I wondered when I could get the fuck out of there.
Doors are in my past, I think.
I remember the Doors got massively popular again after that Val Kilmer movie.
Some bands can replace an iconic lead singer ( AC/DC immediately spring to mind ) but the Doors never could

@mariner4life I remember many moons ago discussing over some beers what would be the best possible opening song to a gig.
I chose this one off the same album. Build it up ... slowly bring the drums .. band joins in .... then BOOM.
