JPR was also a champion tennis player. As a 17-year-old, he won the 1966 British junior tennis title at Wimbledon, beating David Lloyd in the final.

That was my understanding but I have since read that he won a National Junior title AT Wimbledon, not the actual Junior Wimbledon title. I don't know the truth of the matter and either way it is quite an achievement.

Edit: I just realised that that might have been what you were saying...

For the DND nerds, Jennell Jacquays, icon of old school RPG design. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of a hard cover collectors type edition of Dark Tower from Goodman Games on Kickstarter. She also did great art, and worked in videogames (Quake 2 and 3 level designer, for example)

RIP Apollo, Action Jackson, Greef, Dillon and whoever else he played.

Cool guy, always brought a real nice guy quality to the tough dudes he played on screen.

Rocky always knew how to fight, but Apollo Creed taught him how to box. Rest easy, Carl.

Carl Weathers was a favourite. My son was legit shocked by the news. But 76 is a decent innings.

It’s a shame there’s not more footage of him. From what I’ve seen and heard, and taking into account how things generally have improved over the years, IMO THE best all round fly half ever, until Dan Carter came along.

    no recency bias.

One of the good ones we saw I thought Barry John. Had a brief career really, as far as we saw down here. Retired early and good on him, had other things to do. Was the man who more than any other who introduced the 'round the corner' kicking to NZ rugby.
Part of an incredible Lions backline where every player looked bloody brilliant.
