I’m pretty confident in saying I think Ravindra is going to go on and surpass Williamson and be our best batsman.

When Kane was Rachin's age. He already had 7 test centuries, 2300 test runs at an average of 40.

The selectors didn’t hold Williamson back like they have Ravindra…

Anywho, well done young fulla. Great knock.

Quiz. If you can name the 3rd best* NZ batsman at the age of 24 years and 78 days.
Not an overly obvious one, but had a fast start to his career.

    • Best is subjective. A runs and average combination.

    Craig McMillan?

    Correct.
(1843 runs at 41.88 with 4 centuries. Arguably you could say it is second best ahead of Crowe, actually)

Our top seven all average more than 40. Four of them average more than 50.

Disclaimer: some are very early in their careers.

    Na I reckon about 6ish.

Give them an awkward half hour in potentially dodgy light.

When Kane came into the Blackcaps test side, the Blackcaps were crap, so Kane was a breath of fresh air so to speak.

The bash is on and Phillips perishes for the cause. 473-6, 38 overs left in the day, 15 minutes until tea. Bat until an hour to go in the day?

For the last 10 years (since the start of 2014), only 3 batsmen average over 60 with a minimum of 20 matches. Williamson, Smith and Voges (the outlier). Makes you realise how outstanding Kane has been for a whole decade.

Keep batting, bat them right out the game.

Put them in with 30-45 minutes to play at the end of the day.

Santner fails but it’s ok, much more of a bowling all rounder anyway.

Henry in and starts off with a strike rate of 600.

Shit he’s a terrific low order bat I must say. Could justifiably bat ahead of Jamieson I reckon. Four half centuries to one and averages more too.

Is Southee getting lazy now he’s captain ? I’d have thought he’d like a swing at some tired bowlers.

    All out for 511.

Southee better open strongly and knock some stumps over after his batting display.

So careless and irresponsible, from the captain NO less !

He did take a swing and missed it by the Greerton straight…

Like I said. Irresponsible. Should have hung around til tomorrow morning and grafted 10 not out off 50 odd deliveries.

Relieve him of the captaincy now.

I have to say some of these NZ test grounds look awful places to watch cricket at. Bugger sitting on a grass bank in the sun all day.

    I agree.

Are there trees planted that have not yet grown? Or just going to be tough forever?
