@Tim unsure if Reihana ever started for the Chiefs in his handful of caps, either way, huge step up for him.

@taniwharugby 9 games in three seasons, all as a sub

Nearly 50 NPC caps for Reihana. 23 years old. I think the right call to give him first crack over Kemara
@KiwiMurph and he is maturing as a player, huge opportunity to promote himself beyond a good npc player.

Preview of the season.. not sure when it was recorded they didn't seem aware of the Jordan injury

Scott Barrett as an AB captain. No way based on this interview. Not even close to good enough on this front.
Whereas Brad Shield's is a VG communicator. Top notch. I'm not suggesting him of course (as AB captain) but he has the qualities needed.

In general, super rugby has a much different vibe this year. In a very good way
It's all looking good so far. Like an amateur joke outfit to moving to a professional approach. Little thing like naming all the teams early. Media seem to be on board and supportive. NZ have 5 teams where all the fans can have hope.
The big changes needed are in Aust though. That fool McLennan has gone thank God. Cutting out the Rebels is a must do. 4 is still too many but better than 5 teams.
And getting a new group set up to focus just on super rugby. It still needs the right full-time leader but hopefully they get this right
It's all pointing in the right direction.

Scott can catch a pass.

Apologies if I’m late to the dance, but are there rest policies for the internationals this season? Last year the ABs couldn’t play 5 games straight, I recall. Whereas the Wallabies could barely play 5 minutes.

@game_film Razor was asked this earlier this year and indicated it would be more case by case than set rules

@KiwiMurph which is i think is a better approach, it was clear that some AB were capable of playing more and wanted to contribute to the super teams

Anyway , opening day of 2024 season, and although I always say it too early, I still ready and looking forward to tonight! So tips are in the SF tipping comp , I have comfy chair already, (would still prefer to be at a game but..) so BRING IT ON!!!!!
@Dan54 I think Super Rugby have done a good job at aligning all the clubs to build some sort of hype for round 1. A nice improvement on previous seasons. They had all the captains in Auckland for the launch and something as simple as naming the teams at the same time allows for a little more analysis and excitement pre game.
Looking forward to round 1, hope my Canes can get the job done in the heat of Perth in what's a tricky start to 2024.

NZ rugby media & fans can be relentlessly negative. So far most of the noise about this season has been positive
It's strange but in a refreshing way.
I'll give a two weeks max before everyone is bitching and moaning again
