    I still don't see Boshier as a 7 as he didn't put any pressure on at the breakdown. It will be interesting to see his tackle stats.

    Made 9 missed 2, 0 dominant

    Only Chiefs player with more tackles was Jacobson with 10

    He had 19 ruck arrivals (5th best Chiefs). Jacobson had 31

    I have the full opta stats from the game if you want to know anything else

    @Duluth I'd be keen to see the tackle and run stats for the starting loose forwards and midfielders.

        Sheesh, Aumua will wish he was back with MP where he would have the most runs as he'd get the ball every passage of play.

        How do they define ineffective carry? If a player gets a ball behind the line with defenders at the same time yet doesn't turn it over I'd say that's an effective carry, but I assume it would be an ineffective one due to lots ground.

          @Bovidae

          The loosies

          Player (mins) Tackles Missed Dominant Runs Carry metres Dominant carries Ineffective carries
          LJ (80) 10 3 0 6 14 2 0
          Boshier (76) 9 2 0 3 2 0 0
          Finau (80) 4 0 2 10 24 1 0
          - - - - - - - -
          Grace (80) 17 2 0 8 25 3 1
          Christie (80) 28 2 0 6 20 2 1
          Gardiner (53) 7 2 0 5 11 3 0

          There's ~150 stats per player so I'm just picking the basic ones (plenty of irrelevant ones, every player has multiple lineout throw in stats etc)

          I'll do another table for the loosies on ruck work

                    Yeah the usual caveats about stats. I'm sure they have a very precise definition that won't always match a subjective opinion

                      @Duluth similarly missed tackle stats, I doubt Ratima picked up any stat against him.when he shot out of.the line opening.the hole for Fihaki to run through, but there woulda been 2 other Chiefs players with a missed tackle attributed due to Ratima rushing up.

                      Was there 2 of those mouthguard HIA checks last night? There will be some games these are gonna ruin.

                        Apparently players can opt out but doctors have more ability to take them off the field? Not sure on the exact protocols

                        Given the tech didn't look up to it I think a bunch of players will opt out soon

                          I was reading an article a few days ago about the new smart mouthguards. Players can request a medical exemption but still need to provide a valid reason. Tate McDermott is one.

                          If a player chooses not to wear the mouthguard during games – even during a training week – and is spotted with a suspected concussion during a Super Rugby game, they will not be eligible for an HIA check and a possible return. Instead, they will be removed and not allowed back on

                            I am hoping there are some concessions for teams when it comes to subs around the mouthguard. If not I can see teams being disadvantaged and match outcomes influenced. Because rugby needs more if this...

                              That's a bit stupid for something that should just be a trial.

                                Was also impressed with Hannah off the bench he made a real impact lots of energy, he could do with some more Ks on that frame I know they are working on that.

                                Newell and Havilli both back next week.

                                  @Chris Yeah he did look promising, first time I've seen him play.

                                  Newell into the starting lineup and I'd say Havili in for Aumua with McLeod shifting out 1 and Crotty out of the 23, he looks well past his best.

                                        Just watching the second half now. Stevenson is still frustrating. Incredibly gifted on attack but jeez he lets himself down sometimes. He effort in Fihaki's try will not go unnoticed.

                                          @Crazy-Horse

                                          I agree about his defensive issues.

                                          I love his left foot, but I'm worried that his excellence on attack also needs broken field running and a playmaker to create for him.

                                          In international rugby, we may still have the Dupont rule so far fewer opportunities.
