    Dune Part Two

Fucking amazing. Even better than part 1.

    No notes.

6 Water Of Life out of 5 Florence Pughs

It really is pretty much perfect.

New bar set for world building.

@Kirwan @NTA did you guys see it on imax?
apart from just the bigger screen which it was filmed for theres the sound...i dont think ive ever heard such a loud pair of movies before. My chair vibrated at times. It was fucken amazing.

Hopefully Part 2 will do well enough for Part 3 to be given the go ahead. Though i suspect it will be some time off before its made.

Agree with all the positives re Dune 2. Possibly the best SF movie ever. In amny ways it reminds me of Lawrence of Arabia - big, epic, grand set pieces. For three hours the plot fairly races along. It's really a very light touch. Shit just happens without much detail and background, but it works.

The set pieces are fucking amazing. Surely has to clean up every technical Award going

Yeah, heard at least three years.

But that's because he's doing Rendezvous with Rama, can't wait to see what he does with that, going to be a trip.

I really like they don't hit you over the head that Paul is not the good guy.

The sound for Part 2 is a step up from Part 1. I will definitely go and see again as a stand-alone movie.

Yeah the 80s movie painted Paul as the great redeemer.

Definitely less so in this case

I'll never see the film but I'll be forever thankful that Madame Web introduced me to the astonishing Sydney Sweeney

This may sound like heresy but those tits cannot make up for the awfulness of that voice.

    Like the books

the movies deal well with the struggle Paul feels in saving himself and his family, at the cost of billions once the Fremen go full jihad on the galaxy

No just a standard screen (everything else booked) but even that was pretty fucking epic for sound that made your seat vibrate.

The local Reading Cinema has a "Titan" cinema with bigger screen and better seating. Will go back once I get tone, to get the full brown note experience.

Definitely worth it, Dune Part 2 was filmed for Imax so what you see and probably hear on a standard screen isnt the full package.

Very late to the party as I don't really watch movies a great deal but.

Leave the World behind - an apocalyptic tale of what would happen to America if the wi-fi went out for 2 days. Been guffawing with mirth ever since.

Re watched Shutter Island, more successful as a psychological thriller as it attempts to make you think though of course it does explain it all at the end. Acting is brilliant and well executed with a haunting ending line "Would you rather live as a bad man or die as a good one?"

Heard nothing but good reviews about Dune 2, so looking forward to watching that.

The original Princess was way hotter in the 80s flick…..

    IMG_0717.jpeg

    Than this one……

Minor gripe, the later one is a pretty fucken amazing big screen experience. The 80s one had all sorts of issues being made….

Without giving too many spoilers I find it really interesting to see the similarities but also a few massive differences between the two versions.

disappointed that Rabban was essentially a bit of a pussy, it’s Dave Bautista for fuck sake. Getting saved by his mate when that Freman chick was on him, getting a beat down from his brother and finally submitting meekly to Gurney……not what I expect from a WWE unit

Stiglers rants became really boring. Yes, Paul is the messiah, we get it.

Feyd was awesome, the Baron slightly less so. Preferred the 80s one for over the top craziness.

Christopher Walken was in good form for an old bloke

Paul’s character progression was pretty impressive.

Perhaps this belongs in the GOM thread but it was tough to tell who was who during the fights with all the fucken sand flying around.

I woulda liked more info on the worms. Instead we get old mate Stigler having a good old ride on one without much explanation.

The set pieces when they were attacking the spice mining operations were spectacular. Some amazing stunt work.

The movie was terrific, but I’m just airing a few gripes about it

There will 100% be a sequel, we all know that and it’s interesting to see who directs it.

I wonder what Frank Herbert would have thought of it ?

He hated the Iron Maiden song about it….

@MN5 I went to see this last night, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am a fan of Florence Pugh, and was not enough of her on screen.

I did like the explanation of how precious water was and they drained it, and for thier people it is a pool/shrine but for people they kill, thier filthy water is used for cooling systems

The almost 3 hours flew by, unmlike other recent 3 hour movies!

I was going to post that I was surprised Dune hasn't been the victim of a woke backlash. Then a quick google tells me that it is misogynistic, colonialist, sexist, orientalist and ableist.

Must be why it's so good.
