    @Nepia

It was groundbreaking. Read somewhere the opening sequence, which went on and on and on, was one take and they synced the dialogue afterwards. Ambitious in the days before digital.

Must catch and episode to see if it's aged.

@Nepia yeah she was annoying, but her arc was good and she had become more likeable by the end.

I struggled to get into Tokyo Vice, there was something very different about the production that was off putting for me (was quite some time ago, I cant recall what) so only watch 3 or 4 eps.

Also @Nepia you may like Constellation then (although IIRC you arent a fan of Rapace) as there is a bit of time / parallel shit going on.

Most TV shows are complete shit. David Chase has stated that they are now written so that people can still follow them if they are using their phone throughout.

Googled his comments and interesting - not sure on the attention span bit though. Couple of thoughts:

A lot of modern TV series are actually quite hard to follow - even sans phone - and require a lot of focus. We're watching True Detective and finding ourselves re-winding to catch the nuance and layers (I wonder if the writers understand the technology of the media better than we realise ...) In contrast, Endeavour, which is the best TV series I've seen in 10-15 years, is much easier to follow.

Think streaming could be the biggest change with a one-size-fits-all revenue model. The days when the likes of Steve Bochco could produce a Hill Street Blues, target a specific audience and charge a premium for advertising are sadly gone.

Came to Endeavour at season 8

Glad I went back to the start before watching 9 onwards

    Superb series

One of my read once a year books. I hope it sticks reasonably to the characters, even if there is no way they can do the full story. I hope we don't see a watering down of the brutality and beauty of the book. The events less important than the characters and the atmoshhere

Same - one of my top 2 books of all time along with Red Storm Rising. Clavell’s best for sure. So far so good with the show

True Detective S4. 2 episodes in.This came highly recommended by Ms Cato no2. I have no issues with the female heavy cast but I am struggling to maintain interest. There seems little continuity with it just jumping from one set piece to the next.

Shout out to Clarice though for some great acting. Put up a convincing performance of taking some dick.

Mr & Mrs Smith. Started this last night (on amazon), by god it's slow. Will try the second one tonight and see how we got on as the review are pretty good.

Jack Ryan. Enjoyed season 1 and 2, and started season 3. Like MMS above, it's pretty slow at the start, but then picks up from the end of the first episode.

@MajorRage yeah enjoyed MMS, wasn't exactly must watch in the end and kinda just felt like a slight remake of the movie. Feels like it's one and done too...

Yeah one episode in and this is bloody stupid and bloody fun. Bit of a fan of Noel though and if you don't like him or his humour then probably give it a swerve.

    Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge

Only watched the first episode so far, but this is fantastic if you have a penchant for low production values and the least athletic people you've seen attempt obstacles.

Watched three episodes and I'm really enjoying it. I haven't read the book in >30 years so this is effectively all new to me.

The book is well worth a re-read, I’ve been back 4-5 times. Agree the show is fun also

For the game playing nerds amongst us, Amazon Prime have a new series based on Fallout.

I was wondering if it got like that.
The chicken scene at the end of the first episode had me laughing my head off.
And the main character is a bit too cool.

Masters of the Air: A worthy sequel to Band of Brothers. Had a similar structure as The Pacific (following characters not always connected and together) yet pulled it off in a way that show failed to do.

+1. Watched the first 4 episodes and finding it excellent. The actress playing Lady Toda is hawt and actually a Kiwi born Japanese! She was also in Giri/Haji and apparently had a bit part in Fast Furious 9
