Just looking at my downloaded chinese version of Three-Body-Problem - Season 1.
    It's 30 episodes long.
The Chinese do NOT fuck around.
... but I don't think I can be arsed watching it... skipping through some random episodes - it looks well true to source material, but... too much so, perhaps. And in classic kung-fu movie tradition - the laowai parts are played by ex-pats - zero acting chops/ability.
Will eventually just watch the seppo version with all the dumbing-down and splashy SFX... as I embrace our descent into idiocracy.

China aren't happy with it because it shows the Cultural Revolution in a bad light, as in exactly as it was horrific. I wonder if the 'Chinese' version skipped that part

The book wasn't exactly full of praise for the Cultural Revolution - it described it as being horrific and short-sighted... I was always quite surprised he got away with it.

Yes it is, get amongst it ! Great show !

    So finished 3 body problem.

Essentially a sci fi series, linking maths, cosmology and aliens.

Haven't seen the Chinese version, nor read the translated books. Most of the criticism revolves around the portrayal of China during the Mao era and secondly the globalisation of Chinese characters. Namely now largely set in Britain, with still a chinese connection and characters and also with an American, Englishman, a kiwi, and Eliza Gonzalez ...
Does have the GOT writers attached and Alexander Woo as well as Brad Pitts production company, with Rosamind Pike amongst the production company. So a bit of money involved in this

Despite the criticism, a good effort for reaching a global audience, I thought it was a very good watch and look forward to where this takes us when it comes to the next two books.

It’s very obvious once you hear each character speak

I was about to ask in here if the actress was a Kiwi after watching first episode - trying to avoid seeing spoilers on the web by searching the cast list. The almost spoiled it on here myself.

    7 episodes in on 3 Body Problem…….

Liam Cunningham is awesome in everything he does, makes every role very compelling

I’m glad Samwell/Jack bagged it when he did, did the chick who killed him have some amazing abilities or was he just a pussy ? Also how did the cop not see it all happening ?

The Boat scene was ruthless as fuck, will definitely need repeat viewings I think. Destined to be one of those ones you look up on Youtube for years to come.

Augie is hot. Even when chundering.

The chick who killed Sam is arguably even hotter.

For a dumb fluffybunny like me the whole explanation of stuff is actually relatively straightforward ie they’re way more advanced than we are but will still take ages to get to earth

I’m glad they explained that kiwi chick actually is a kiwi and it’s not just lazy acting with the accent.

Good old Easter, no excuse not to wrap it up this weekend and see what happens !!!!!

Finished Constellation that follows 2 astronauts who have returned following a traumatic re-entry to earth and the mysterious changes to thier lives after they return

Bit of a slow burn, certainly enough to keep interested and is one you need to watch properly.

the parallel timelines aspect does mean you need to be watching carefully especially with Bud alive in both of them

3 episodes in and liking it. A bit different and great to see a minimum of stereotypical characters.
