So, Michael Jennings. How do we feel?

300 games this weekend. 41st player to do it. Tradition is, you get the game ball presented to you, generally by the CEO.

The NRL has, after media pressure, come out and said that won't happen this weekend.

And why? Well, because by all accounts Michael is a bit of a shit bloke. He's coming back from a drugs ban. Then he lost a civil case where it was found he, on multiple occasions, sexually assaulted his former partner, and was ordered to pay her a sizeable sum. An amount i believe he has not even begun to pay back. Note, no criminal charges, civil only.

Despite all this, the NRL signed off on re-registering Jennings, and let him join the Roosters.

And so, we come to this weekend, and the NRL's decision. Should this bloke be "honoured"? well, no, it appears he's a bit of a shit bloke. BUT, if the NRL think he's "clean" enough to get re-registered with their organisation, surely he is "clean" enough to be treated like everyone else?

IMO he should never have been given another contract (willing to admit i don't know how this would go in court given the lack of criminal charges). And i can understand the NRL CEO not wanting to be seen to be handing this bloke a game ball. The Roosters and Jennings say they are okay with this, but that is PR in full spin. I just feel, if you took the step to re-register the bloke, then this actually makes you look weak.

@mariner4life I dont think he should have been re-registered either and I also think the Roosters should be copping flack even for asking.

I'm ok giving people a second chance, especially if he was trying to make amends and he was able to demonstrate this through different channels..

but when he is not even doing this...

@mariner4life Yeah, I think you don't re-register him if you don't want to give him the award every other player gets for reaching the milestone.

            Have they what ?

Names like Craig Gower and Todd Carney spring to mind.

There’ll probably be someone waiting for Jarrod Hayne at the prison gates with a contract in hand when he gets released.

Debatable. Groping teenagers, holding a knife to someone’s throat ( Gower ) and almost going to jail for multiple drunk driving offences ( Carney ) are hardly playful……

Crashing a Golf Cart ( Gower ) is quite amusing though. Apparently he had to pay 10 grand for that haha. Also pissing on someone ( Carney ) makes me laugh a bit.

@bayimports Was it him or his brother that I saw as an assistant coach to Des Hasler?

Would struggle to take him seriously if it was Joel haha.

So for the insane amount of money Manly signed Schuster on, they actually had a release clause around his weight, so they have been able to offload schu pastry without penalty

Unfortunately the Egan drums for Origin getting louder

Rumours of Parra investigating Wayne B

                              Cook dropped

Some interesting stories this week even before a kick off

Shit, Origin is usually when we advance up the ladder, with Egan out we may slide down the ladder.

Schuster will never be any good as he seems to avoid contact at every opportunity both on attack and defence. He's in the wrong sport.

You have to love the NRL media

                                      Team has a bad trot
Journos start whispering the coach is under pressure
Journos start talking up their unemployed mates
Journos ramp up the reporting with unnamed sources
Coach starts to hear nothing but questions about their future, and probably snaps

Journos "oh you just feel for these guys and their mental health. The pressure that is on them is terrible"
                                      Also they should sack him

You have to love the NRL media

                                        Team has a bad trot
Journos start whispering the coach is under pressure
Journos start talking up their unemployed mates
Journos ramp up the reporting with unnamed sources
Coach starts to hear nothing but questions about their future, and probably snaps

Journos "oh you just feel for these guys and their mental health. The pressure that is on them is terrible"
                                        Also they should sack him
