Thursday nights never live up to the billing
Melbourne v the Roosters should be a show stopper. It was not.

My ladder prediction hugely overrated the Roosters. They are the very definition of "the game isn't played on paper". Lots of names, none of the output. They lost last night despite some huge calls going their way (fuck up Robbo, your team was kissed on the dick last night, had the Storm down to 12, and couldn't score more than 12 points). No linebreaks is telling, their only attacking weapon was high kicks to tall wingers. Tedesco is still red hot garbage, absolutely slaughtering every attack. Throw in two absolute brain snaps and he was close to worst on ground. Their spine is rubbish. Their rotations are weird. Manu is super dangerous, but from centre he plays back to the middle too much, looking for the big play. They are just an ordinary side. And they are losing a few this year, they will be worse next year. Window closed.

The Storm just keep grinding out close wins. Their defense is incredible. Grant, Hughes and Papi are a great spine (Munster is doing nothing and they are still winning), Coates is now an elite winger, their pack is tough (Katoa as good an edge forward as any in teh comp). If they keep winning like this though, Bellamy is going have a heart attack.

@mariner4life Roosters have a great forward pack, some superstars in their backs but hardly ever look like a cohesive unit. Largely due to their spine as you mention.
Manu was practically unseen in the first half but when involved in the second he was a machine, he clearly needs to touch the ball more often than not, you can clearly see why people always said he should go somewhere else as he is a natural fullback. Although should be playing there next week as Teddy should be punished for deliberate tripping

The good thing for teams playing Melbourne is that they are clearly beatable, but the bad news is that you have to be right in the fight until the death as they are incredible at winning tight games. Hughes probably at the top of his game this year

@ACT-Crusader He still had two years at the Panthers it was only the fact he wanted to be closer to his family.

As we know, contracts in the NRL are about as useless as an umbrella in a typhoon.

I don’t know JFH and his family situation, but he was holding a lot of cards in terms of choosing his future despite the in-term contract.

@mariner4life I don't generally give Kent much of my viewership but I don't remember this type of carry on when Lomax signed with the Eels

Good start from the Warriors dominating territory, but playing very conservative when attacking the Dragons line, we are seeing nothing but one out passes.

Needed to turn pressure into more points, as predictably the momentum is changing.

We’ve given the Dragons 3 soft penalties to get out of their own end now.

            And the Dragons score.

After dominating the game, the Warriors find themselves only 2 in front, 6-4

                Fuck sakes.

The old tits for hands Warriors are showing their ugly heads.
Montoya loses it in front of his own posts, Dragons score a couple of tackles later.

                Sort your fucking shit out!!!!!

Warriors of old have definitely turned up tonight.

ANOTHER soft penalty to let the Dragons out of their own end, followed up by a set re start… Dragons score again.

They must be 3 tries from 3 times inside the 20.

This is just an utter garbage last 20 minutes from the Warriors.

Penalties, soft defense, poor attack inside the 20, it’s all a bit concerning.

Now salt in the wound, a 2 point field goal on the stroke of halftime.

Warriors with some serious work to do, down 16-6.

@Donsteppa it’s got me scratching my head, as we looked really fucking professional and dominant in the opening 20.

                            Completely opposite second 20.

Worst possible start, Dragons score from their first set.

We won’t come back from 16 points down 2 weeks in a row, game over.

What the fuck is this ultra conservative play the Warriors are insisting on when they’re on attack.

Then a kick in goal on the 5th with no chasers?

I’m close to pulling pin and going to bed.

Our attack is so pedestrian it’s not funny, and now we give up a 90m try after a SJ error while hot on attack.

Too painful to watch, im out.

Worst performance of the Webster era.

After 12 minutes it looked like one team was going to get done by 20, and it wasn't the warriors.
But just like every week we don't score enough when we are on top, but this week or defence also fell apart.

Awful all round really. I would like to say flush it and move on, but a few things that have bugged us all year became big issues tonight.

Yeah errors amongst back three were huge, Shaun either was instructed or attacked only one side. Bench offered little which didn’t surprise me given injuries but disappointing nonetheless. Some worrying signs for sure, hoping flush it…

remmeber the first year of the 6-again rules, and it turned out half the comp had teams fundamentally unsuited to that game style, and lopsided scores abound? Well this weekend reminded me of that, lots of teams got flogged.

We've already discussed Thursday, and the fact the Roosters are frauds
THe Warriors slipped on that banana skin
Then the dolphins buttfucked the Eels in Darwin. Fuck the Eels, and fuck "King" Gutho. Brad Arthur chucked his players under the bus afterwards, but that can't hide the fact he's probably sitting in the hottest seat in town. The Eels just got flogged by a Q-Cup team
Penrith of course beat the Tigers. Benji is a real coach now because he had a quick bunker whinge in the pressor.
Neither GC or Manly could be bothered tackling.
Brisbane put Canberra in their place.
The Bulldogs of all teams flogged the Knights who are in real trouble. Heaps of their players are out of form, they are reliant on Ponga who is hurt and tired. AOB back in the gun.
Then the Sharks showed the Cowboys exactly where they really are. Payton is now under pressure as well. Continuing to pick absolute spuds like Townsend, Feldt, Granville, while there has been a huge regression in Taumalolo's game as well. The Sharkies look like they did at this time last year though. They'll be hoping they've learned some lessons.
