i forget now...there is this one that some sights list as 97-99
but then there is also this one
did they have one for 97 and then a different one for 98-99?

First one is 98/99
Second is 1997.
For whatever reason they changed their jersey, none of the other teams did this. The Chiefs used the 97 jersey in 99 as an alt kit for one game against the Hurricanes. Chiefs still could have done the 98/99 as maroon represents KC and blue represents BOP. Something to look forward to at least.

Well aside from the fact I was living in Chiefs country the day the team was "created".
The only bad reminder I have with the Canes is that it took me so long to ditch them. What a waste of 15 years.

@Nepia god you’re dramatic. When have I said every Hurricanes player should be an AB? I’ve just highlighted players that I think are too hard for Razor to ignore. I.e Numia, Aumua, Love and Proctor, am I wrong or am I right? If I’m so one eyed tell me who’s playing better than those four in NZ right now?
In other positions I have other players from other franchises well ahead of their Canes opposites so your ‘one eyed’ reference is a bit far.
Maybe if you stopped spamming the Fern with your dislike for the Canes then it would be easier to ignore. Hawkes Bay posters are the biggest whingers, it’s so boring.

These heritage jerseys are fun, but will be interesting to see what they come up with from next year onwards, because there are few iconic ones...
Highlanders could do a remake of the 2015 jersey for the ten-year anniversary of their title win? Outside of that though, feels like designs over the years have been so beige that it would be tough to tap into.

@frugby ive thought about that...what would it be? a blue jersey....but they cant do 3 stripes over the shoulders because thats adidas copyright/trademark so we'd have to do two or four stripes...barely iconic
I think we wont get alot of these heritage jerseys as there just arent that many iconic designs....i hope that they come up with some iconic designs

There are some good ones, but from the mid 2000s up to 2014, adidas just used a template design... everything from inside the last ten years is almost too recent as well. At some stage a remake of those BI Lions jerseys would be cool.

There are some good ones, but from the mid 2000s up to 2014, adidas just used a template design... everything from inside the last ten years is almost too recent as well. At some stage a remake of those BI Lions jerseys would be cool.
@frugby i think there are some ok jerseys from the past...very few anyone other than huge fans will automatically be able too immediate place which years it from....i think other teams have had more iconic ones...chiefs always seem too have just abit more effort put into them....crusaders have had some...huge black sword on the front for example...but our just tend too be blue...with less and less yellow or maroon on them each year
we're not going to gte a classic version of this are we?
and when i go back...a lot of design elements are just around how they use the 3 stripes....which we wont be able to replicate....clever from adidas

The other option of course is some old away jerseys... few decent white ones + the original green jersey
@frugby definitely more options with away jersey, especially if they embrace the idea they might be ugly...but memorabile...fluro green
the other way they could go is full PU homage, otago jersey with the yellow and blue striped arms one year...maroon with blue stripe across it the next year....gold and maroon the third year

NZR would never do it, but maybe they could go full Stade de Francais style and feature each of the various feeder provinces, either one at a time or mixed together

NZR would never do it, but maybe they could go full Stade de Francais style and feature each of the various feeder provinces, either one at a time or mixed together
@canefan probably not, but we can dream and it seems an easy way to engage with those areas "hey look, we're your team"..hell throw in the odd game (pre season) played locally wearing a kit inspired by the local union
