“Den of Thieves: Pantera,” so far, is the only movie opening on Jan. 10 — though others could be added to the calendar before next year. Christian Gudegast, the filmmaker of 2018’s heist thriller “Den of Thieves,” returned to write and direct the sequel. Butler is back as Big Nick, a gritty Los Angeles police officer, who is now on the hunt in Europe to track down Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), an ex-marine-turned-robber who becomes embroiled in the plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.
had me at Pantera, lost me at Den of Thieves
Den of Thieves was one of the worst movies i have ever seen. It wanted so much to be Heat, but ended up being something that should have starred Eric Roberts

Bob Hoskins’ finest hour
Bold call
You made me think twice, so I went through his filmography and he has done some good stuff, but on balance I stand by my comment. This was HIS film, he owned it, acted well in a taut well written but low key film.

If Heat didn’t exist it wouldn’t be considered too bad. But it does so obviously it’s gonna suffer by being the inferior knock off.
The guy from Orange is the new black was a good baddie. There was some good action scenes. The scene with Fiddy cent grilling his daughter’s prom date was good comedy.
Gerard Butler has about as much range as a rifle with its firing pin removed though.

The Fall Guy
Meh. Ok film, with a strange storyline and paddling pool depth.
2 reviews out of 5 that'll do.
Watched this last night. Wished I hadn't - the best bits were in the trailer, the rest was "action scenes" to fill in the lack of plot.

Will have to revisit
My top three that I can remember
Pennies From Heaven
Who Killed Roger Rabbit?
Twenty Four Seven -
@mariner4life It wasn't a good movie, but it was a fun watch. Best description: "Heat if it was directed by a can of Red Bull."
Looking forward to more adventures of douche bag Big Nick!

Fern collective movie knowledge request:
I need some clips from crappy sci-fi movies where injection of a virus, "nanoprobes" etc transforms/saves a person in seconds. Think the borg injecting nanoprobes in Star Trek.
This would be the kind of question I'd bring to the Fern expecting you to be able to answer.

What's that movie where ScaJo eats those pills and uses "100% of her brain" and ascends?
Surely there is some shit from there

@mariner4life wasn't that Bradley Cooper in Limitless?

Great, great picture. Cracking score by Francis Monkman as well. Check out Mona Lisa (1986) if you haven't already - another Bob Hoskins classic.
